Iggy
Hi all, Having shot my Guerini Summit a couple of times now I reckon it needs fitting and I’m trying to work out the best way to go. I don’t think it needs a lot of work, but when I mount the gun comfortably (with my eyes closed and then re-open them) I’m definitely looking down the L/H side of the rib and the comb may be a touch high given there's a slight gap between the mid and front bead. On one hand it seems to make sense to have an adjustable comb fitted, then it can be adjusted almost infinitely. The down side to this (for me) is the thought of someone taking a hacksaw to my new pride and joy, as well as a concern that all the extra metalwork in the stock might affect the guns balance in some way? Based on the above my 'preferred' route is to have it bent traditionally, but my worry here is that the stock might split during the process or that the finished item may still not fit me quite as well as a fully adjustable comb which could be 'tweaked' to fit perfectly? Whichever way I go, I'll probably go with Simon at Doveridge who's quoted me £80 for bending or £190 for the adjustable comb - are these 'normal' prices? Most of this angst is fuelled by my worries of damaging or spoiling my lovely new gun, but any thoughts, comments or advice gratefully received - as always
Rupert
I had a similar problem with my beretta and went with the adjustable option my thinking being it would appeal to a wider group of shooters when i came to sell.I paid 250 ish including couriers and the work was done by Roy Wedlake,im very happy with it. Gordon R
Adjustable comb every time. As the title implies - it can be adjusted. Stock bending - you are stuck with it. One adds value, the other detracts. No brainer.
fenboy
I could be wrong but if your looking down the side of the barrel I think you will need the cast changing ,not sure a adjustable comb will do that for you as I think they just raise lower comb height. NO you can adjust left n right aswell as up n down! Definetly go for adjustable,i had two guns bent and both srung back had the one re-bent and he lifted it too high,it stayed there but is too high for me,so the second gun i had an adjustable fitted £
handy4454
Had a Miroku MK70 fitted a few years ago,the stock was low for me so needed to be bent upwards, everything fine for a couple of months and then my shooting really nosedived, turned out the stock had settled back, took it back to the gunsmiths who kindly rebent it but the same thing happened again, bought a Browning XSH with adjustable comb and wished I had'nt bothered with the bending, the adjustments are side to side and tilt as well as up and down so you can get it spot on, atb handy.
