fat_jay
It's likely the tumblers have stuck, give the lock a good spray with thin oil from an aerosol (wd40) failing that I have some teflon lock oil spray about somewhere if you want it Jay
Kes
Im agree get some lock fettling spray and leave it for 12 hours. Then just ease the key in the lock, rattle it, lock, unlock etc until it gives - it should. If it breaks off, call the locksmith.
silpig5
the main prob is the missing part of the key , im guessing its stuck in the lock mecanism but will try a good soak of oil .
Paul T
the main prob is the missing part of the key , im guessing its stuck in the lock mecanism but will try a good soak of oil . If they are fairly small bits, the key rattling in the lock might dislodge them - fingers crossed for you. Failing that I'd just chop through the hinge pin at the top and bottom with an angle grinder and buy a new cabinet. By the time you've paid for a locksmith and a new lock you'll be getting pretty close on price Sincerely hope I never have to do it. Good luck mate
Gordon R
Angle grinder on door - cut patch out and then weld it back when you have changed the lock. Cheapest option.

cant hit rabbits 123
If you use an angle grinder, you may well have to replace any wooden furniture on the guns too. If the spray doesn't work, try drilling the lock.
clayman
Get onto U-Tube - there are some amazing videos there of people showing you how to bypass locks of all types. I had a problem with a locked digital safe, and found vids that showed me how to open it if 5 secs!!
silpig5
cheers for sugestions , but as per the norm both my cabs are fitted to hinder access to attack , no room to get in and pick locks or cut hinges ect . may have to drill lock and hope for best . the only saving grace is i think its the old midland near the lock side so a mishap wont be that expensive ! guss109
If you don't want to use a grinder drill four holes in a square shape then use a recip saw was a metal cutting blade. Weld patch back on then fit a new lock. Should cause alot less sparks
silpig5
thanks for replies , got it sorted . by the looks of it , the bit that snapped off undone the lock but didnt throw the bolt , so a 8mm drill bit into it enough to thow it across . but im not saying where i drilled .
