deputy dog
Perhaps a stupid question. But all these rabbits are shot at fair distances, with some quality marksmanship at that fair play. Do you actually go on those long walks to pick the shot rabbits up or leave them for the scavengers. Iv seen quiet a few of these long distant rabbit kill videos now but not one seems to comment as what they actually do with the rabbit after its been shot. Luckyshot
Some of my shoots are like sibore's and any rabbits shot with the 243 are left where they fall, not worth picking up as you would spend most of your day walking rather than shooting. Frenchieboy
That really is a display of excellent marksmanship, rabbit control at it's best, well done! But I'll bet you still can't put a Rowntrees Fruit Pastile in your mouth without chewing it mate! All joking aside, I think it ought to be mentioned that this sort of long range shooting at live quarry should not be attempted by all and sundry until they are as experienced, accomplished and confident as you are! The landowner generally prefers us to leave them where they are shot as not to disturb ground game. There are regular grouse shoots on that land and lots of money at stake. On a few occasions I have picked them up for fox bait or if they are head shot the dogs appreciate a boiled rabbit or 2.
Si-Bore
What magnification do you use on your scope when shooting out to these distances? The mag varies according to light conditions, target presentation and shot angle. Generally for 3-400 yards 14-18mag. 500+ 18-28 mag would do nicely. The longest shots are on or close to full mag to get precise reticle centralisation for accurate bullet placement whilst sending the bullet.
