burchy1234
Some advice required, My semi-auto is the same length as a 32inch o/h however my cabinet can only fit in my 30inch o/h. One of the guys suggested i cut a barrel sized hole in the top of the gun cabinet to poke the barrel through. Question is, is this possible and ok for the licence etc. Cabinet will still be secure now way of getting the gun out?!?!?!?!? cheers Burch
Beardo
i don't think it's a good idea. Why don't you just take the barrel off to put it in the cabinet?

RED BEARD
you could cut a hole in the cabinet, then weld a small cap over the hole thats big enough to house the bit thats sticking out.
Big_Paulie
I had a similar problem. I found that if I just popped the gun in diagonally it fitted (Just) have you tried that?
majordisorder
Or just lop a couple of inches off the barrel with a hacksaw, much easier than drilling that big hole
corvid wings
NO DON'T CUT THE BARREL OFF ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,CUT 2 INCHES OFF YOUR STOCK THEN WHEN YOU GET A BIGGER CABINET,PUT THE GUN IN A BUCKET OF WATER FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND IT WILL GROW BACK , HONEST! Gordon R
If you can weld or know someone who can - I go with the cutting a hole in the top of the cabinet and weld a small box shape on to accept the longer barrel.
Cosd
If that is the size gun you like just sell your cabinet and buy another, or dismantle the gun as Nick suggested. If you start cutting holes out of your cabinet your gun will eventually be covered in marks getting it in and out. J@mes
My semi goes in if I stick the barrel in the top right corner and then the stock in the bottom left corner. It's a tight fit but I have a gun sock on it to stop it marking.
englishman-in-wales
Why would you want to go to the bother of taking the cabinet out, cutting a hole in it, getting someone to make an 'extention' to go over the hole, get it welded on then paint it to match the cabinet and fasten it all back in, just sell the old one and get one that will accomodate the longer barrels....and, i doubt that would be a quick job either, so unless you have another cabinet cleared, where you going to store your guns until it is back in... No, you don't want to do that ! Cut the hole in the floor
Spara Dritto
I wouldn't cut the cabinet, you can say good bye to the bluing and say hello to loads of scratches, plus, the cabinet will be worth pennies after. Take the barrel off and save lots of time, money and possible problems... I doubt the FAO would be as impressed as you..
