spiderlegs
iv been looking for a new 4x4 sinse selling my hilux earlier this year, so all i have at the minute is a jimny and its a bit of a squeeze to say the least great off road but terrible on it. iv narrowed it down i think to either a grand vitara 2.0 SWB, SWB terrano, or a frontera sport 2.2. im just interested to see anyone that uses these in the real world and what they think of them in terms of MPG reliability space ect. it will be my daily drive and used to get me to site for my trade as a treesurgeon so has to be reasonably good offroad with just a set of AT's the occasional bit of greenlaning and to run kit and the dogs around. jacksdad
The Fronty for me! Just sold one to buy my Trooper, sometimes I wish I hadn't, cracking on and off road, dead easy to work on and spares are readily available and cheap! And they look great, and of course the removeable roof and windows are a real bonus

And they look great, and of course the removeable roof and windows are a real bonus +1 I bought a 2.0 swb apache just for shooting and have only praise for it,the roof unclips in 10 seconds to provide a safe area for 2 people. The truck is quiet and comfortable with plenty of room when seats are folded up for all our x2 pigeon gear or a session stalking munties, which a mortar mixing tray fits in the back to keep it clean. Fitted with grabber at2 it has gone everywhere in all weathers, last night it went across muddy sugar beet field, rape field and old stubble no problems and didnt shake us to bits like some. Check out 'muddy fronteras' and have a look at the vids to see what they are capable of.

BrowningDJC
Out of that choice i would go for a terrano all the way.
Gordon R
Depends what you want. I've had a few 4 x 4s, but the 2.2 diesel Frontera was by far the quickest, most economical by a mile, handled on-road more like a car. It was also the cheapest to run - maintenance wise - and also light on tyre wear. Very little work was ever done to it - injector seals - apart from oil / filter changes. It was also excellent off-road - we used it to tow a 4 wheel box trailer for motocross. The trailer contained about half a ton of water, three bikes, plus fuel, tools, spares etc. Absolute doddle. Wish I had never got rid.
