Buster223
3 shoots I got to. Usually beating but sometimes I pick up. Done 19 days so far and got 7 days left All near me within 10 miles
Tim Kelly
The closest shoot I go to is an 80 mile round trip. I organise the beaters there. Then I go to another shoot just to beat which is a 140 mile round trip and then the little rough shoot I actually shoot on is a 120 mile round trip. Other than that I usually go and have a few trips for ducks, geese and a walk up in suffolk over christmas. That's a 250ish mile round trip. What with the money the truck drinks in diesel and the money I'm not earning being, self employed, I reckon it costs me around £200 to go beating for a day, possibly more. Living in London isn't ideal!
poppythedog
Only go picking up on 1 estate, bottom of my drive, cross the lane & you're on it.

fenman99
My total picking-up days by the end of season will be about 52days & with a daily mileage of around 140miles, that's about 7200miles per year  Fortunately the estate covers my diesel/food. I know I'm out of pocket on running costs but i do it because i can & for the pleasure i get out of seeing my dogs working & working in a stunning part of the countryside. fenman Edited December 20, 2011 by fenman99
