Pykie
Thought I would dust off the 410 I first began shooting when I was 13. Its a bolt action, single shot BSA fourten and after buying a few boxes of cartridges, I headed off to the woods next morning. Having not fired it for ten years, and being rather short in the stock, it got a bit of getting used to but after missing the first squirrel, I nailed the next two at good distances, both stone dead. A third soon joined the bag after hitting it first shot, I quickly worked the bolt and slid another shell in to finish it off. A pigeon decided to land above my head and it ended up in the bag too. I was surprised how fast I got at reloading the single shot and the highlight of the day was three for three as they burst out of a drey. Ended up with 10 squirrels and a pigeon, two of which dropped into the river. The cartridges I was using were a mix of Nobel Speed and Eley Fourlong in 6 shot, both 2.5 inch as that is the size of the chamber. Will definately be using the fourten more often and was surprised at the kills it managed.

Underdog
dropped like a bag of doo doo mate lights out and don't think i would be the first to do it either...not a perfect situation but what is perfect in this game Done a few fox's with 410's over the years, longest (not that it's a contest) was 33 paces, 1/2oz 7s on some H110, or was it A2400, can't remember. A 410 is brill, used them on driven pheasant and partridge and more. Had a cracking day on the crows one day, can't remember the bag. Any one using a 410 gets a from me. U. fenboy
I can remember around 25-30 years ago dropping a drake mallard with a bolt action 410 after a mate had missed it with both barrels of his 12 guage , I even remember what he called me afterwards but cannot repeat it here

turbo33
Great result .410 is a very under rated gauge. Blue barrels and I had a day on Barley back in the summer and I used my .410 and loved every minute of it It goes out as much as the 12g http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/172647-pigeons-with-the-small-gauges-on-barley/page__p__1462852__hl__%2Bsmall+%2Bgauges__fromsearch__1#entry1462852
