JustJon
Hi, I'd like to have my 525 stock adjusted in Jan/Feb next year - it was suggested when I bought it I'd need about half an inch off. Anyone know someone they trust that will both check whether they agree and then do the work? I'll be based in Lincolnshire by then but will travel for good work. Also, the wood that comes with a 525 is quiet light - Would it improve the look to have it "oiled" ? Or is this not possible? (i.e. can I go slightly darker and bring a little more grain out?) Any ideas of costs? Need to budget and hide money from the other half ;-) Thanks, Jon

Harnser
Cutting any amount of wood off a stock is a last resort . Can you not manage with a thinner butt pad fitted or a thinner butt pad and less cut off . Is easier to cut it off than to put it on . Harnser . Fully standard at the minute and I don't think the original Browning butt pad is that wide?
HDAV
Original browning plate is thin plastic and the intention is you get it cut to fit with appropriate pad. IF your going to keep the gun well worth having it fitted to you yes it might devalue it a bit on the secondhand market but lots have pads fitted
