TGEvans
I asked for some info on a 20 bore and I was put straight and told to get a lighter load cartridge for my 12 bore! So here goes! I am looking into what cartridges to get for some woodland Squrrell shooting. Was told that 21 or 24g would be fine. Would they also be ok for close rabbits and pigeons? And who make the best ones! Any info would be great, Tim.

TGEvans
Hi,not new to shooting by any means. I asked on another thread about possibly getting a single barrell 20 bore for using in woodlands. But everybody stated that two barrels would be better, one person stated that lighter 12 gauge cartridges may be an idea. Just thought that there would be less meat damage to close range quarry with a 20 bore. But if a lighter gauge 12 will do it, seems easier. Dont like having too many tools. Thanks for the heads up on the Hull's Matone, much appreciated. Tim.
Iggy
Hull CompX 21g are about as light as you can get for a 12 bore and having usd them myself I can confirm they are very soft recoilng. They are fine for clays but I'm not sure about their suitability for game shooting as I don't do any, but maybe if youre only talking close range they may well be ok?? EdSolomons
21g fine for squirrels and close rage pigeons. Can squeeze a good few yards out by sticking some choke in. No probs if just using for pot ****s to 30 odd yards, steer clear of skeet chokes and the like to Keep a bit of density.

Mike525steel
You can shoot 24 g. As the 21 gram are only available in 7.5's usually. But I like my little side by side 20 and wouldn't swap it for a light cart in a 12 bore. It cost me £100. It's up to you of course but if you look around private ads you should come across a tidy cheap
