ME
I was out dogging in the car park at Shugborough today. I was flashing the interior light with no success when Canthitathing pulled up. He was closely followed by Timps, Chard and Whiskeymac. As I was there anyway, I decided to join them for a round of Sporting. To be honest, since the thought provoking fox tutorial videos, no ones mind was on the shooting. We spotted a few of what we thought were Charlie runs. Turns out it was the tracks from the truck that fills the traps up Just as well there are plans for other videos in the series so us Newbie Charlie Hunters can improve our fieldcraft. It wasn't overly windy so not ideal foxing weather, but for a lad from the English Riviera (Essex), Stafford was quite chilly. Having never been to Shugborough before, I thought it was a nice shoooting ground. I managed to hit one clay in the pool shoot and there was much cheering. I am not sure if this was encouragement or relief that a "winky out" situation had been avoided. I proceeded to shoot most of the stands like a total homo - I blame the early start, the poor length of my cartridges and that I wasn't using steel 5's. Anyway, I managed a poor score that was made worse by the other merchant bankers getting really good scores. Nice to see the PW Northern clay shooting lads again. :good: It would have been nice to see "Potter" again but he couldn't attend. Chard
Good to see you again, Matt Laaaaaaa Well shot today, not an easy ground and a respectable score for an "away" shoot. Scores on the doors : Timps - 84 Well shot Bell Endo Canthitathing - 82 B Class ****..... Chard - 81 Well, it is an A Class score..... Whiskeymac - 77 Well shot chap. Straighted more stands than any of us ME - 57 :o Good score, under constant threat of "Winky out".... Good laugh, we were lucky with the weather, it stayed dry till we'd finished shooting, then ****** it down all the way home
canthitathing
Nice to see you again Matt Good shoot, good company, good laugh It's a pity some of the so called A class shooters couldn't keep up with the B class but hey On another note, I spotted these tracks on the way home Could be Deer(e) Edited December 5, 2011 by canthitathing

JustJon
My 3rd ever clay shoot and I hit 48, improved on the last shoot so still happy and I enojoyed myself. A couple of stand near the entrance with 2 similar traps - would have preferred some more variation on them and felt harder than 2 weeks ago but overall enjoyed - good ground and minimal queueing. Mr Potter
For various reasons I couldn't make the Shugbugger unofficial PW meet-up/love-in unfortunately which was a pity cos my laughing muscles always seem to get a good workout when I meet up with ME Ended up at Fauxdegla but had a disaster, it was raining and blustery so we hung about a bit waiting to see if it would improve, forecast was that it would only get worse so we headed off to stand 1 just before midday. First two stands were tough going and the conditions made them super tough, third stand was OK but then the snow started :o well it was a snow/sleet/hail/rain hybrid really. These conditions were very similar to those last Saturday at Lupton but with slightly less wind but it was definitely colder, my hands were absolutely frozen to the point were I didn't release the trigger sufficiently for the second barrel three times. This weather combined with an idiot in charge of the trigger knocked my score for six (well an awful lot more than six actually). As we got to the last 3 or 4 stands though the weather took a distinct turn for the better, wind dropped, snow and rain stopped and I started hitting things again, straightened stands 9, 10, 11 and dropped 2 from 10 on the final stand. Too late thought as my miserable total was 68 x 100 and another trip to the shame step After a brew and a steak sandwich (can't get that when you've finished shooting a Shugborough) set off home with the outside temperature gauge of the car reading zero degrees and the sleet coming down again. Anyway, sorry I missed you ME and hope we do get to meet up again in the not too distant future. Must close now as I've obviously not got a grip and I do believe in getting a grip Potter

Chard
Yep Didn't realise the PW Massive was attacking there today else I'd have tried to spot you and say hello! Yes, sorry we missed you. Sometimes their trap setting is quite clever at Shugborough. Though the birds from the two traps can look very samey, they often catch you out as they're not always both quite what they seem. Or in the case of those two black edge-on simos screaming off between the trees, they're just hard to get on them both. One is easy enough, two can be a bit tricky. That was one of my strongest stands! The report orange pair that where similar (one slower and dropped much earlier) got my completely though! Also managed to miss everything on stand 6 i think it was - a simpl'ish looking crosser which I've still not forgiven myself for! Would have hit my elusive 50% if I'd got a couple! Oh well, there's still next week!

Claybuster
Nice to see a big turn out by PW lads today & it looked like you was having fun in the squad giving Matt some rib. I was shooting like a dream & on for a 97 with two stands to do, one of which was the rabbit & as normal I managed to make a right hash of it :hmm: and missed 4 + another 1 on the last stand to finish on 92 so happy enough. Mr P you should know what the weathers like in them there hills so you missed a good day at shuggy

Never mind that, we couldn't believe you missed the bin with one of those empty cartridges you were firing in when you ejected them. You got the first three pairs in and then missed the top barrel cart from the last pair. Including the birds you hit we had you at 15 out of 16 including the empties into the bin on that stand (simo right to lefters).

I very much doubt if I will make it between Christmas and the New Year, Paul. I'm shooting the Hodnet Challenge at Hodnet on 30th December, as are most of the other merchant bankers I have to shoot with. With family goings-on and alcohol consumption, I can't see me getting out twice, though you never know I see there is a registered shoot on at Shugborough on 27th December, the Express Challenge which sounds tempting. If I get out for another session, that will be the one. Any of you other cornholers up for it?
ME
Chard, let me know about some of this Christmas shooting. The drive today wasn't that painful, so I might consider a few away dates. By the way, can the CPSA boys clarify: when Charlie asked me to wear safety glasses today could I have told him to poke it? I was a "birds only muppet" today. Are the glasses the CPSA rules, ground rules or competition rules? Don't get me wrong, I am all up for safety but nobody likes being told what to do - do they?
