BellySlater
Guy's, I made some of this last year from a recipie found on the internet, i'll be damned if i can find it again !! It was whiskey and a jar of stem ginger including the syrup - this gave it the sweetness. Anyone tried this version ? It was bloody lovelly
Thunderbird
That sounds like it might be a quick and easy way to make it.
gunner269
I've got a jar that I made the same way, the only difference is that I put some Almond essence and three tablespoons of Honey in as well. It's really got the Ginger kick but with a sweet aftertaste. Edited March 14, 2012 by gunner269
Beardo
i've just made it the easy way (1 bottle whisky (750ml), 1 jar ginger in syrup, 1 month) - it's definitely better in flavour but lacking a smoothness (it's sweet enough though), so i'm thinking of adding some glycerine. Brown Sauce
Do you think you'd be able to substitute whiskey for brandy, over bought for the bramble brandy?
Thunderbird
I'll let you know when I taste it.

joe1978
Following the inspiration from this thread I started having a bash at this last night. So far i have : 70cl whiskey 2 tbsp honey 50ml cointreu juice of 1/2 lemon 1 jar stem ginger syrup and ginger Honey, lemon juice and ginger syrup heated to thin and mix over boiling water. Had to chop each ginger lump into quarters to fit in my Ikea 1000ml swing cap bottle Put everything in the bottle and shake......and shake.....and shake....you get the jist. I'm going to leave it a couple of weeks then try it and tweak it depending on taste. I'll update the thread but looking at the recipes here I'm thinking it might need more honey, maybe some glycerine for consistency and I'm considering a few cloves for a bit of winter warmth but I'm undecided. Any suggestions as I'm kind of making it up as I go along... :good: Joe Joe

bi9johnny
Was talking to the boy in the liquor shop in Chester and he told me the base spirit is a form of gin. I made mine from light whiskey and it was yummy
Brown Sauce
I used Mr Beardos' simple recipe, with a few alterations 1 cup clear honey 1 cup water 1 jar of stem ginger in syrup About an inch of root ginger finely sliced Zest from 2 lemons 2 bottles of sainsburys cheap brandy 1 Demi John Used the same method, but left all the solids in the liquor to stew with the brandy. After 2 months its amazing and goes really well with a bramble brandy chaser.
joe1978
Topic resurrection alert!! My mixture above tastes good but has become cloudy forming a hazy sediment that redisperses with the slightest movement of the bottle. Is there anyway to clarify the liquid?
