The fire works or bangers are attached to a rope and you set the bottom of the rope on fire and it smolders until it reaches the banger .when it reaches the banger the smoldering rope sets the banger off and the rope continues to smolder until it reaches the next banger and so forth . You can cut the rope below the next banger to stop the chain . They normally burn for about 30 minutes between bangs ,unless you have a breeze fanning them and they can go off more often . Harnser . Bangers cost about £35.00 for a box of 12 ropes. The ropes last about 6 hrs letting off a banger ever 30 min. Bang half a dozen in the field and try and 'channel' the birds to your decoys. Failing that order some or make something that looks like someone standing in the field. Time consuming and different but could work, you never know!!! whatever next robots roaming the fields, if you could be bothered to find 6 mannequins, then carry them to the field assuming they all fit in the car in the first place then trudge around the field placing them in various places around it whilst someone is probably watching you do this from the side of the road and ringing the nearest loony bin, as you do it, whats wrong with putting a few plastic bags on canes in areas you don,t want them to land in. cloud cuckoo land comes to mind Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I said it was time consuming, i also said it was different. The guy was looking for any type of idea, is it really as bad as your snidy comments suggest? THE MEK Posted December 22, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 22, 2011 went out yesterday and got set up before daylight, but this time had two banger ropes set out in roosting woods with the first banger removed to give me an hour to set up. they made a hell of a difference the birds did'nt know what was going on. as the morning progressed the birds where flying about in increasingly smaller groups, with a few coming in to have a look at my pattern, packed up with 17 at half twelve well pleased with the banger ropes. Maybe you need a bit of confidence in your own ideas. I think you can pat yourself on the back. hawkeye Posted December 24, 2011 Report Share Posted December 24, 2011 Also get 2 garden canes about 4ft long with a length of string between them any length you like and tie on old CD discs... They flash in the sun light and the birds don't like it just another way of flagging a field to keep the birds on the move..
