The fella in question was ****** and you have got it he crashed his car into a brick wall. Not only has he ended his own life an other mate was sat in the passanger seat , who is now in intensive care and fightin for his life. A neadless waste of two very good fella's.

So if any of you ******** think about getting in your car after a couple of pints .....think about this post ....and get a TAXI......Yes they did have the arguement about it.....and took the car instead.

YP Very sorry to hear about your mates

I hope the injured lad pulls through,

Sniper you are correct about shooting and drinking

I used to get invited to Driven pheasant shoots when i worked in Norfolk and the order of the day is as follows

Get picked up at 0830 hrs and have a drink on the way to the estate, on arrival at the estate go into the big house and have a drink (or Coffee) with the owner, then get ready for the first drive and have a drink, three or four drives and drinks later then go to the pub for lunch and a pint or 2, Start the afternoon off with another drink and 3 more drives and drinks after each, Then count the birds pay the keeper and off to the marsh for some duck flighting. then off to the pub for an evening meal with more drinks and port till approx 1030pm.

As you can imagine it was quite a good day out and I think only by good luck that no one was killed Although we did have the odd beater hit with low flying pellets. and quite a few guns fall into dykes on their way back from the marsh

I've been beating, and the guns have had lunch for about 3 hours, most of it on the port. Not a good afternoon, most of us got a few stray pellets, my mum was nearly shot from about 10yds away (the guy who did it ws discarged from the shoot). :(

The shoot captain apollogised at the end of the day for it.

He's a nice guy, used to own Marstons, lots of blank label cans appear in the Beaters Shed in this and a neigbouring shoot (they are basically the same shoots, same beaters, the keapers help each other, a few of the sme guns, just differnet land)

;):);) Ha Ha YP we get free larger (but dont drive after drinking it, I hasten to add)

I belong to a game syndicate now and have belonged to six others, over 20 odd years.

None of them permitted alchohol during the shooting day.

One gun seen drinking from a hip flask (later known to be sloe gin), was sent home on the day and warned about his future behaviour.

Lots of things don,t mix with drink. Guns and vehicles (incl boats) top the list. ;)

Y.P.

Truly sorry to hear your news.

Having been first at the scene of several fatals, let me tell you that every one lives with you forever...you never forgot the horrors, I'll spare you the detail.

Thats just the start though, the pain for those left behind must be unbearable...suffice to say that delivering a death message usually leaves the bobby, as well as the victims family, in tears.

Just writing this brings, as clear as day, the memory of a 20 year old who hit a tree at 80mph, ****** and coked up...that lad died in my arms, every bone in his body shattered.

For a pint and the price of a taxi??

I hope your mate recovers from the physical injuries...the mental ones are there for life.

Take Care.

No mate...did a couple of years armed response...used to enjoy the pursuits until I saw the aftermath...calmed me right down.

And before anybody asks...NO!...I wasn't a traffic cop!...they are a different breed...even cops hate them! ;)

On one shoot, the land is duchy land, but is a store of wepons and other explosives for the army. It there bugler alarm does go off, hello Armed Response Unit.

Is it true that to stop a close range (0-10yds) say 6's form a 12bore you have to wear a flak jacket and a ceramic bell shped thing?

YP very sorry to hear of your mate. I once lost 4 mates back in northern ireland, they hadn't been drinking but were over the speed limit, and lost control of the car three died at the scene the other in hospital. Such a waste of life

We went on a heavy drinking session at the hunt breakfast some years back, having previously had a social evening the day before (yes I didn't drive at all that weekend).

Ended up riding the horse when completely ****** up, came tumbling off a couple of times, once over a fence where I badly sprained my hand. Was sore for weeks afterwards.
