Ackley
Chat on all you like about what is legal because there is the very faint chance that you may have a point - it is a grey area. That's fine with me but don't start bringing what is ethical into this because you're the wrong bloke to do it! You and me both know there's more chance of you screwing up the windage of one of your long range shots on live quarry than there ever will be of me losing a Deer due to bad bullet choice. Especially when plenty of Deer have been shot and the bullet in question has never failed me or others I know who use it yet. There you go - I've taken the bait. Happy now? ahh so you now admit its a grey area which you and other manipulate for your own justifications, if you wish to bring long range shooting into the topic please do it on another thread I will be happy to put you straight on that score as well, and yes one can loose deer by using the wrong bullet, been there and done that, you nhave obvioulsy beed lucky "So far" or you dont shoot many deer as to taking the bait, there isnt any being dangled, just a debate which i thought was between adults

phaedra1106
"Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range" as recommended by my friend Arnie, he swears by them!. (if used properly it will also cook it for you as well)

Depends what you mean by "many"? I've shot a couple of hundred at least with calibres from .375H&H to .22lr in both humane dispatch and stalking situations. I'm no pro stalker by any means but I feel I've taken enough to have a fair idea of what works and what doesn't.

Mr_Logic
Jesus Lord! Ackley I don't believe you are still bleating. NJC - there is no grey area here. There's a daft area for sure, but the law is clear. It just needs to be aligned with the Firearms Act Amendments from 1996/7. On muntjac from a 223 I'll use whatever is loaded for fox at that time. Might be A-max, might be blitzkings or Noslers. We have established, by reading the law, that the a-max is legal for deer. We have also established that some a-max bullets aren't a great choice, due to excessive expansion. The 52 a-max expands similarly to v-max and blitzking, and as such is a good choice. It's not marketed for this use but it works.

Ackley
The mods have been circling like vultures on this thread for ages! I think its days are numbered proably because they have enjoyed reading it,nothing has been said thats out of order other than admitting using the wrong bullet, theres been the odd insult thrown by the same person but I have big shoulders to handle it,so there no problem I think its odner its course and people can make there own mind up on what is right and ethical to use, untill the wording of the deer act is changed that is.which hopefully wont be long then there is no grey area to manipulate

I'm a neutral observer hoping to learn something, but I'll be honest, you come across as a very angry and pugnacious person, which (rightly or wrongly) does colour my view of your POV I'm afraid. njc110381
A change in the law would certainly put pay to the risk of people using unsuitable target bullets for Deer. But then it would take away one of the best small Deer bullets there are!

Mr_Logic
Nah, I like being able to think. Shame some people can't though. And yes NJC, we would then lose a very good small deer/fox/vermin bullet!
