dunganick Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 I shot a r/h and am a r/hander and wear glasses (not the safety type) and you would be very supprised how much crud gets thrown back into your eyes or in my case onto my glasses (why i notice it) The lads who went on the Monday Madness day i organised @ westkent all got enlightened when our trapper made an observation of Martin Cavie rubbing his shooting eye, and said its something almost all semi shooters do, and it progressively gets worse through the day untill it starts effects your shooting. the last engineer Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 absolutly right Nick, glad you wear them, but remeber its not only powder your concerned about, how many times have you seen pieces of broken targets come flying in after you shot, they too can cause a lot of damage to your face, your eyes, your gun, or ther guy stood next to you if he aint watching. lets be fair its a great sport, but has its dangers as do others, we should all our best to reduce the risk of injury by whatever means possible, i will not let anyone shoot with me who dosent wear eye protection, its crazy, when im at the range i have 5/6 pairs of safety specs for any individual to use, myself i have a good pair of safety lensed sunglasses and two pair of Randolph Engineering that are always in my bag. like the American Express ad, " dont leave home without them " Martin Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

After 2 powder burns in my eyes I now have a l/h Benelli which I don't use due to using centrefires all the time. Trying to convince myself to sell. highdowns hunter Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 Im Right Handed and shoot left handed, with a beretta 303, Never had any problems with ejecting Carts or powder burns However I do normally wear Glasses. MC Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 TLE, No I don't think you are picking on me, I should have known better. It just took an incident like that to drum it home. At my club shoot on wednesday we had a stand with a driven clay which was only 20' high, needless to say that the ones which were hit were dusted and I was washing the dust out of my hair that night.
