CZ550Kevlar
mine comes up in May, judging from other horror stories appearing i`m not going to be looking forward to it. Sometimes going direct for a quote can be cheaper than price comparison.
Dr_evil
I got mine from Admiral……..£1280 fully comp I'm 20 though not got a conviction but got a warning/fine which they counted although that is on a discovery which is a high group
Sprackles
Was with Admiral on a multicar but it went up £500 this year even though my daughter has got her first years no claims. Got a renewal quote for both of us at £1900. Got the Meerkats to have a look and daughter got a quote of £900 from Diamond, I got £245 from Hastings. Not a bad few minutes work when you look at the difference. The daft bit is when we rang Admiral to tell them we wouldnt be taking up their generous offer, it turns out Diamond is their company too and they honoured the price difference for my daughter but couldnt match mine. PWD
If anyone drives a commercial or 4x4 try NFU..they can be pretty good....a bit cack on regular cars though
Dr_evil
Sorry but IMO NFU are useless……..I was with them last year
cant hit rabbits 123
I've not even bothered! I was looking at insurance for a 1.2L small car, but being 18 I couldn't get insured for any less than £1800. Absolutley spotless ledger, no convictions or warnings at all. I'll just wait a while for it to defalte slightly before I start driving I think.
PWD
I fairness...with insurance you only find out how good anyone is...after the event,I think we just buy the cheapest and assume all is OK provided we are legal. One thing in NFU,s favor though...you do get to speak to a localish office...and not Bangladesh at premium rate That said my NFU did go up to £400 from £350 but its a commercial policy Edited January 9, 2012 by PWD
leeds chimp
got my renewal thru at £380 up from £318 and had a look round. Still cheaper by £60 elsewhere but a quick call to say got it cheaper elsewhere and they dropped it to £
CZ550Kevlar
Sureterm 4x4 is good, but you need a 4 x 4.
Cranfield
Shop around beyond the "price comparison websites", most are rubbish IMO. If you go direct to the Insurance Companies, you seem to get cheaper quotes. My wife's car renewal came up in November and Saga increased the premium by £115 (despite no claims, etc). The same policy was covered by Direct Line for £22 less than the Saga 2010/2011 premium.

M.I.A
Thats truely insane, what was the payout on the claim, hundreds of thousends?
Dr W
I'd probably buy a push bike. 17 year olds get cheaper insurance than that, you must have driven through a Ferrari garage followed by a porsche show room finally coming to rest in the local private jet shop, while drunk and uninsured to get to that sort of figure. CZ550Kevlar
Seems like a very extreme rise considering it was a freak accident, which i don`t think anyone can argue with.
