Snotty
Came back from today's clayshoot with two doubles to clean, shooting Gamebore fibre wads so not especially cruddy. Grabbed the nearest cleaner, which just happened to be a spay of Cillit BANG the wife had bought, squirted a generous dollop down the tubes and on a lamswool mop then scrubbed and rinsed. Amazed to see all this powdery black stuff come out, dried the bores and WOW. Question is, was the guck on the mop or has Cillit BANG actually removed hitherto unshiftable crud? I'd almost swear the leading is reduced but I could be kidding myself Wish I'd started with a clean mop now

Cranfield
I would bet £1 to a pinch of snuff, that the muck was on the mop head.

poppythedog
Why bother with all that rods and fluids stuff? Pull a bore snake through it and put it away spotless!
Dead-Eyed Duck
I reckon that your bores will be nice and clean and the ribs will separate. Surprised that the bluing hasn't been affected. My mate is a gunsmith that specialises in bluing, and you would be surprised what affects it. The best (?) thing is blood on the barrels - lifts the bluing a treat in a very short time Don
Snotty
Why bother with all that rods and fluids stuff? Pull a bore snake through it and put it away spotless! Perhaps you refer to today's hard chromed wonder tubes? You have to try a little bit harder if you shoot the real McCoy
Dunkield
Why bother with all that rods and fluids stuff? Pull a bore snake through it and put it away spotless! I have one for using in the field for my rifle, but I would be amazed if they remove all the lead fouling from a shotgun bore, especially if you use fibre cartridges.. Quist
Anyone else get a Bore Snake Shiner? You know with the smaller calibres where you have to take a couple of turns around your fist?# Then really pull to get the bristly bit up the bore? Then the ####er suddenly pops free and you bash yourself in the eye? You know that look that women give you when you say "my bore snake is nearly half a metre long" ? Me neither Pity it doesn't come up in conversation more often
