Plumbing question.

A quick question for you wise men. I've got a barn approx 175m from the mains and I'm getting it connected to the water. At some point in the future I'm wanting to convert it into a cottage. If I was to use a 25mm mdpe will that be okay for future plans??

Nope, its going to be a new supply to a trough for pigs initially.

I went for 25 just in case the distance would make a difference.

Would 20mm be okay then?

I wouldn't, if you want to maintain flow rates then 25mm minimum. A lot depends on how much pressure you have on the supply. Less than 3 bar and it would have to be 25mm in my opinion, close to 1 bar, you may want to consider 32mm. Don't get me wrong, you CAN supply a place with 20mm, but you won't be fitting power showers or similar and expect water starvation issues with more than one outlet open.

Hi, Why not put 32mm in, the cost of the laying the pipe is the same but the pipe is only pennies per metre dearer

I called UU up today and it would be the same to connect a 32 as a 25 so it looks like Ill go for the 32mm.

Im struggling to get 200m in a single piece though
