Hi all,

Had one of them seasons this year with my Geese!! weather not helped my ponds and the flight lines not going to plan! so i done the right thing and stopped any clients coming as it was so hit and miss!

Got a call from my dad asking if I could help him out and run a days Pheasants shooting and of-course said yes, as i was leaving the house stuck the gun in the car and Brook my lab and planned on sitting down the Marsh on the of chance of a duck or a goose after the driven day was done,,, the Pheasant day was fantastic and nice to see some old friends and of-course got carried away after the day and stopped on for well lets just say more then one drink!!

But as the hardened wild-fowler I am    7am and i am looking at the dog and said come on then windy wet and as good as you would want it.. I got down to one of my spots and set up first the curlew came passed in groups of 20 then 3 mallard came down the river at me jumped up and dropped one! then 10 mins later another one i sent Brook over the 7 to pick them up! bless her....

As she was coming back to me i heard a single goose! now this place at the start of the season held over 2,500 geese and we had seen non all year! and it was nice to hear one then it got closer and closer I was just going up on it when I saw about 30 more coming on the same line so i hung on and got up and dropped a left and right then again another lot on there way!! same line same result another left and right! Now i have managed 8 Canada's to carried on my own before but this was about 700-800 meter walk over wet bog land so decided 1 more would be my bag if they came again! didn't have to wait long before i dropped it with my next shot! then i just sat back and watched about 300-400 poor over my head it was fantastic!! nice to see them coming in again! I have had my last day now this year on the geese and what a fantastic morning me my dog and my geese.

Oh and my new Rivers west pro staff kit.

Never done a goose before, but it's just a big pigeon really isn't it.

Not sure what my girls will make of them (goose and mallard), in the morning, but they need to know that the decent meat doesn't come from Sainsbury's. Hopefully they'll name them.

Good luck for the weekend mate, I want a full report on those Hornady when you get back.
