sandcastle
Can any one out there recommend a decent 4x4 crew cab pick up, I am looking at getting rid of the wife's Focus.(best not mention it to her just yet) Getting fed up of the focus constantly have bags of feed and bales of bedding for our daughters pony, wet and muddy kids and dog, thinking a crew cab would be a good solution. We have 2 kids 1 stupid springer and a Pony. Have read a few mixed reviews on the L200, would be looking at spending £3500/£4500ish no vat open to any advise. HDAV
If you dont need to go off road, not bothered by mpg, and kids are small look at a ranger/rodeo. if kids are bigger get vectra estate and a dog guard! (better to drive better mpg no worse in carparks, maybe a bit worse off road! ) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201202441950400/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/5000/model/ranger/make/ford/postcode/cf244er/quicksearch/true/page/2/radius/1500?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201203443365109/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/5000/price-from/3000/body-type/estate/model/vectra/make/vauxhall/page/1/radius/1500/postcode/cf244er?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201150435331437/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/rodeo/make/isuzu/postcode/cf244er/page/1/radius/1500?logcode=p Edited January 24, 2012 by HDAV

sandcastle
Do a bit of off road and also tow the stupid Pony in it's trailer (Ifor Williams 505) Not to fussed about mpg Looking for something a bit more driver friendlily than a 110 as the wife will have to drive it. I my self would love a landy

HDAV
Have a search but should be pretty good with decent tyres (do you tow the horse around?) On road are more refined and better mpg than the others http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/188326-ranger-or-l200/page__p__1597455__hl__hilux__fromsearch__1#entry1597455 Edited January 24, 2012 by HDAV
12borejimbo
Ford ranger is very good. We are on our second one, its a 56 reg, had it for 2 years with all sorts of abuse, has not had a service yet and it runs sweet as a nut. Its towed 2.5 ton diggers, took 5 of us lamping, carries feed all day, several dogs in the back and works on our 1000 acre shoot all year round. Cracking motor, just get good tyres, thats all you need!
remy 700
older l200 are fab , rangers are very underated , hilux is the off roader , then its green oval time , but AS STATED ABOVE its a lot to do with tyres , the main thing is a proper service history and you will buy a truck that you wont want to sell , good luck with your search

ferguson_tom
Anyone would think you dont like the horse The rangers are good trucks my friend has one and uses it regularly for setting up country shows and things. Across wet and muddy fields fully loaded with people and a large IFOR trailer on the back it works a treat and so far not got stuck. Of course it couldnt compete with a disco on an off road course but sounds like your not going to be doing that anyway. Also it is comfortable inside and feels stable when towing and plenty of power for motorway work and getting up the long wet muddy hills. After I have paid for the wedding this is what I am getting

HDAV
Sounds like a ranger would suit then, Isuzu Rodeo would probably be my choice (even over a hilux) but much rarer, The Mazda BT50 is a ranger clone and even rarer but well reviewed. ferguson_tom
Bit over your budget but a mate has a 2.5 thunder ford ranger in blue and silver on 56 plate, less than 40000 miles FSH etc. For £7000 only selling as moved house and costs too much to commute. lxtav
Ive got a rodeo and went everywhere i've asked it to go. Even pulled two caravans through 5 inches of mud a blair horse trials a few years ago with the rubbish road tyres on it. Also never got stuck last winter and pulled many cars and vans out if the snow.
