ollie
Myself and Glensman had a look out tonight with the lamp as we hadn't been out in quite a while. Glensman was on the gun tonight and I was lamp man. The first farm we went to we spotted a fox almost straight away; lamp off & gun on bonnett. Lamp back on and I am waiting on the thud...then all I hear is click . One of Glensman's past home loads didn't go off, a problem with seating the primer. Needless to say the fox made an exit. The next couple of farms was a total write off due to fog. When we had come back down from the fog I spotted a fox in a field within a mile of the location of the first fox. Lamp off and gun on bonnett. Lamp back on and the fox seems to be facing away from us, then I hear thud and a nice Vixen at 112 yards. Glensman confirmed that she was licking herself when he shot her . We then must have covered a good 20 miles without seeing another eye. However, within about 2 miles of home I spotted a fox quite a distance away. We were able to creep towards it in the 4x4 while our noise was being masked by a stream. Lamp off and gun on bonnett. However, this time there was no thud, but I will let Glensman explain to you what happened . Before we finished up Glensman took a couple of nice head shots on Bunnies with the .223. Below is a pic of the Vixen, she was in very good condition:
