deershooter
Just had a phone call from the Firearms department (lincolnshire ) regarding my reneal "they were un aware about me home loading and wanted to update my electronic file" This is new to me. I have been home loading for 20 years the FEO ( not just this one but 2 others over the years ) has visited my house and been in a dedecated gun room with 3 presses mounted on the bench scales. powder.primers and cases on every shelf and didnt Know I reloaded!!!! What has this got to do with the police? since when did the law change and they have to know that we home load "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING" I think a letter to the home office and the chief constable is in order they were not going to let me have 2 types of amunition on my licence as I did not own guns for that caliber . I explained that I home loaded for two friends ( well not as simple as that two friends come to my house and load their own ammo but dont alwas take it home that night depending if we have finisherd or not ) They have now backtracted and are allowing me to have the ammo espically when I reminded them it was 4 weeks since my certificate ha run out and every week I have requested a section 7 to be told that I dont need one every thin is ok We are not getting the service we require from the police on this matter they have had 3 months to renew my certificates and nothing yet! They are trying to get them done before the Newark show as it is the best oputunitiy I have to buy my new shotgun and stock up on bullet heads Whats your vies lads have you heard of this before let me know Deershooter :o :o :o
sitsinhedges
Were they just interested in centre fire reloading rather than shotshell
Harnser
I have never heard of this one . I have been reloading all sorts of calibres over the years and have never been asked by my FEO how I sourced my ammo . You are doing nothing wrong so carry on . I do enter reloaded ammo on to my ticket Just to keep track of it . Recently renewed my ticket and came back with no ammo on it although I declared that I was in possession of 400 plus .308 and 1500 .22rf . Harnser . kent
The delay your experiancing is unexeptable and illegal as we all know. As for ammo for calibres you dont own, they might get onto RFD status questions shortly just be aware of this and make sure all is in order and you and your mates are singing from the same hymn sheet
deershooter
Kent I have nothing to hide the firearms department can come and inspect any time they like I am never over my allowance or any thing like that I have had the two extra calibers .45 and .357/38 for the last 3 license terms (15 years) two mates who work away dont always have time to reload so some times I reload for them some times they come here this enables me to be able to shoot at there club with them I usually only use this facility when setting up a rifle or scope 4 or 5 times a year I do not need to be a member of the club as I have an open ticket conditioned for zeroing on ranges (note it doesn't say approved ranges )even though this one is, where does the law say that you have to be a member of an approved home office club to target shoot. I have shot in plenty of open comps over the years including coming second in the Mattasy 2000 sporting rifle shoot with no problem  Why do the police need this info ? I think its so if they want to take your guns off you for some reason they will also take the reloading gear sitsinhedges They didn't want to know about the shot shell equipment thought this was strange ,I have a black powder license for loading shot shells and 45-70, issued every three years by the police and have had a license from trading standards for storing nitro powder Deershooter Edited February 16, 2012 by deershooter
bedwards1966
When I had my FAC interview last year one of the questions I was asked was if I would reload. No doubt they like to know as re-loaders will have stocks of powder and perhaps more rounds of ammunition than non re-loaders, I expect they just like to know as much as they can about you. magman
Depends what heads you reload as the RFD has to put expanding heads on your ticket

Guest cookoff013
they wouldnt have even batted an eyelid if he was reloading shotshell. the completed cartridge doesnt need special storage, or has an allowance. they just said "oh", whn he saw my presses, mainly reload steel at the time. bobt
Are you sure it actually was the FEO ringing? and not somebody on a windup.
EMcC
Why is everybody so upset over such a simple question? I am sure it was purely related to the number of roundes you have asked to purchase or acquire and the number of rounds to hold. Nothing sinister at all. As for putting bullets on your FC at purchase, some do and some don't so that gives no indication of you usage, so a simple request at renewal is probably just to clarify your figures. Pastiebap
I'm unsure about the mainland, but here in NI we have any ammunition purchased marked onto our FACs. Come renewal time there is a school of thought within FEB that good reason can be shown by the volume of ammunition marked on an fac. Home loaders would have little to no ammunition marked on an fac so it is useful for feb to be aware of home loading go avoid assumptions of no good reason come renewal time. deershooter
I have not asked for my allowances to be increased I already have 4,500 rounds of center fire and 7500 rounds of rimfire on my certificate this is mainly due to the am mount of expanding heads I have in stock the rimfire allows me to buy a full batch in one go spring time I can use 500 rounds of rimfire a fortnight I am not upset I am informing you what is happening with the firearms licensing departments It was the firearms licensing department on the phone I am sure as I was passed on to the firearms licensing manager who I know Deershooter
