Edward
Hi With regards to my previous thread about pump or auto. I have been looking around and the benelli supernova has taken my fancy, but there are on or two things about it that caught my attention: first is its a 3.5" I believe, but do they cycle a 65/67mm cartridge ok? the one I am looking at has a 28" barrel and I have read that they seem quite big, but I dont know if thats americans comparing it to 18" barrelled defence guns. Roughly how much would a 24" barrel cost if I wanted one? Thanks Ed

mickmep
price wise if you are buying new the barrel length should make no difference. i've got a 26" barrelled one and its not unweildy to use rough shooting, i personally wouldnt have anything longer on one of these. 24" would have been my preferance but when i bought mine there were no supernovas about and when they came in the 26" was the shortest of the lot that came in to the rfd. Guest cookoff013
you can eject the smaller shell, just angle the ejection down by leaning as you pump. i homeload 70mm so no problem ejecting whatever.
Steel100
Basically, same here. I've had a Supernova for a few years and well over 95% of the shells I use are 65mm or shorter and I don't recollect any problems feeding or ejecting. Just remember, DON'T BE GENTLE! Pumps (and lever action) guns need to be cycled robustly. Cheers Andrew
mudpatten
More Italian made Super Novas are sold in the U.S. every year than any other domestically produced pump. I think that just about says it all for the notoriously insular yanks and the quality of the gun.
mpk
Another vote for the supernova here
Breastman
Like others, mine has no problems cycling smaller cartridges, i've even used 2" 'custom' slugs in mine and it worked fine They are BIG guns though, i've got a 26" barrel on mine and personally i think the gun is a little too long but that's just my perception of it. Benelli barrels are pretty damn expensive, when i priced one for my M2 it was £480 and that was 3 years ago
Edward
Cheers for the replys. I will go an have a look at one and see how it feels but I think its going to be too cumbersome after comparing specs to other makes.
