blackbird
Just got me thinking as for a FAC you are only allowed to hold a certain amount of bullets, what about shotgun cartridges is there a law to how many you hold

danb21t
isn't it there is no law on the number of cartridges but comes down to the amount of propellant you can store at home? VicW
It is governed by the explosives laws and weight of propellant. That equates to about 10K 1oz cartridges. On one of the forums someone actually put up the maths but it was a while ago. Vic.

HW682
There was a similar thread a while ago.. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/147628-cartridge-storage this is copied from something I posted on there (pasted from Aberdeenshire trading standards) If you keep shotgun cartridges or fireworks for sale you will probably require registration under the Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations 2005. If you keep ammunition for small arms you may keep up to 15 kilogrammes of powder in the form of cartridges (at 1.62 grammes or 25 grains of powder per cartridge you can keep up to 9,260 without registration; at 2.72 grammes or 42 grains of powder per cartridge you can keep 5,500 cartidges without registration. The storage of other products such as motor vehicle air bag inflators or nail gun cartridges also requires registration but up to 5 kilogrammes can be stored without registration. shooters
Also you don't have to store cartridges in a locked container. Just have to be somewhere sensible.
Sharpshooter.123
No you don't but it's something that could change in the future.
Alycidon
You can hold as many as you want given that you do not exceed the max powder weight holding, I hold about 2 years worth, I only use shotguns Oct - Jan so I buy 2000 and replace when down to about 250. Be aware that the shooters powder storage regs have now changed to 15kg, so about 28000 12 bore assuming figs mentioned earlier in thread are good. Vince Green
Also you don't have to store cartridges in a locked container. Just have to be somewhere sensible. That "somewhere sensible" is a bit of a grey area. You know what "they" can be like. But basically you are free to keep them where you like.
