oscarsdad
Interesting programme with some pretty unpleasant practices and breeders exposed. All for show and nothing to do with 'fit for purpose'. King Charles spaniels especially-very upsetting footage of the poor animals whose brains are too big for their cranium which is causing them terrible pain and neurological problems...stupid bint and the breed club are still breeding from the dogs affected by this. Makes me a bit annoyed that both my terrier and and my cocker are KC registered and these people have hadoney off me.
markhoward13
Iv got a black lab that is 5 generation kc registered and have had nothing but trouble with it. He has got hip problems and is epileptic. When I spoke to kc they was not interested. iv had him castrated so no one else gets his problems. hchris
Good programme when you see how some for the breeds looked 100 years ago ie the English Bull Dog and the runts which are being breed now. The Kennel Club has a lot to answer for.
oscarsdad
My border who is 5 generation KC has a cramping syndrome which I believe is brought on by red or rich meats - he did it on Sunday after being fed some hare and some squirrel. I will not be allowing him to breed either. I am sure tere are some decent breeders but some of them on the programme appear to only care about rosettes and not about the dogs at all. My Cocker is KC because I hope to trial him so he has to be. If I could not pay the KC anything then I would. Dunkield
Is this a new program or the re-showing of the old one do you know? The outcry after the original program resulted in the BBC dropping it's coverage of Crufts.

pegasus bridge
i saw the original one too - pretty disgusting pursuit of the asthetic over anything else. the bit about the boxer (gucci?) who was both the father and grandfather, these people who do this must be fairly limited in the grey matter area. what is the name of the programme so i can watch,,,cheers,,,evo http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01cqp75/Pedigree_Dogs_Exposed_Three_Years_On/
stuart21
I don't necessarily think they are stupid, it's pure greed. Gucci has sired nearly 900 puppies, so how much money has the owner made from that? Also, the Kennel Club are 99% to blame for this, as they surely realise the damage that is being caused, but because they run most of the shows and are 'in-bed' with the breeders, then nothing will change. I for one will not register my dogs with the Kennel Club and would actively seek any future pups that are NOT KC registered. The KC should make sure that breeds with known hereditary illnesses, should be tested and the tests published before breeding. If breeders where to ignore this, then they should be refused entry to the KC.
