pigeonblasterian
I have a few fuds but do not find them any better than shells.Never had any sillosocks or seen anyone use them so cannot comment on those.
yankeedoodlepigeon
Could you even loft FUD'S?
chrispti
Tried most types, they all work. I settled with flocked shells on spring sticks.
deny essex
They do all work , depends on what you have confidence in as well as how far you have to walk on your permission. I have just changed to modified FUDs after years useing shells , the reason being a dodgy back and an ole ****, FUDs and silos are light and pack down easy so walking with lighter kit and less bulk over sticky ground is an advantage. ayano3
Many thanks for you comments. I am still pondering over what to get, if any ! Chris, my friend has some of those spring sticks with flocked shells, tried them in the field and put them away straight away. Did you, or did you need to modify the sticks in any way as his were pretty C**P. the shells just flopped over and gave no movement. The spring seemed to weak or to long..or maybe the breeze was to strong !!

Usualy its a cheap inferior peg and spring, but try screwing the two halves of the peg together as they get closer together the spring should become a little stiffer, can try a wrap or two of insulation tape around the spring, that will aid a little. If that fails new springs or pegs. Edited March 4, 2012 by deny essex
chrispti
Or use some of these sticks http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/?products_id=5726
Cranfield
If you are confident in them, why not just get a some more of what you already have. A couple of full bodied decoys are always useful for lofting, or putting in a hedgerow.

Cosd
Looking for a few more decoys. I already have shells and flexicoys. Just want your opinion or reviews regarding either FUDS or SILLOSOCKS ? I started with plastic shells and they worked well, but if there was a little rain during a decoy session they would glisten in the sun afterwards. They also chipped after a while and needed constant touching up. I tried Sillosocks and found them very hit and miss. Had them out some days decoying with mates where I could see the birds decoying but shying away from the Sillo's, so got rid of them. I can't say they never worked, but some days the birds will come into anything resembling a pigeon, but more often than not they need a bit more convincing. Flocked shells are very good, I used them with spring sticks from the UKShootwarehouse, and like Deny said, you screw the two bits closer together giving you a shorter spring and they work very well. Can't fault these in any way other than the bulk and weight. If you choose these, then try to buy them from a reputable dealer as the cheap ones will shed the flock, there are many threads on the subject if you use the search facility. Recently bought some FUD's and like Deny, modified them by taking off that red chunk of metal they come with used for the spike. Extremely light and compact to carry which was the main reason I bought them. To my eye the new UV version (4.7) seem a little light in colour, but I ain't the pigeon and I have had them decoy to land over rape which isn't an easy crop to decoy over. So very pleased so far. They seem quite robust and the theory is they don't fade, time will tell off course! Let us know how you get on with whatever choice you make. sitty tree
hello . i remember as kids we used to make them out of old grey guttering and a little bit of white emulsion and jobs a good one. seeing these old deeks brought back good memories. it seem a bit like carp fishing boilies now (which ones will do the job)that many on the market .
