Cranfield,

Sorry me old love but I have to disagree with you on this one.

Why have you deleted this ?

I can see no evidence so far ,on this site ( that is www. flightlines.co uk), of any advertising for monetary gain, which I understand is the criteria for deletion.

So far it appears to be a forum similar to this one.

Surely you have no problem with healthy competition.

If you carry your reasons to the n th degree, then every time someone mentions the name of a gun or cartridge or whatever , they are advertising that product and it may prompt someone to buy that product and the makers will make a monetary gain.

We don't even know this aforementioned site is commercial.

I think you have acted far too hastily and should reconsider your actions.

By the way I have no connections with the aforementioned site.

I also was a bit shocked to see that Cranfield had decided to act as "Big brother" regarding the setting up of another pigeon shooting site. To the best of my knowledge no advertising of any commercial product has been conducted in the announcement of the construction of this new site.

As The Sniper quite rightly says, competition did nobody any harm .Many links to other sites are regularly posted on this forum many of which are advertising commercial products but are done so to try and be of benefit to us all as shooters.

We are all capable of making up our own minds on which sites we view and i think i am not alone in thinking that most of us will pay the new site a visit when it is up and running but we will continue to stay with this one and if the new one proves to be even half as enjoyable, we will spend time looking in there as well.

I hate censorship of any kind but admit that it is necessary in some cases, in this case however i think Cranfield has over reacted far too soon.

OK Lads, I am quite happy to explain the reason for this action.

I thought long and hard about it.

The decision to delete, or amend posts, is not an easy one to make.

William is away on holiday and I am unable to contact him for a decision.

martind,s approach, that he was surfing the Net and had just come across a great new website, when in fact he has the same IP number as the site owner, I considered deceitful.

He must have realised that what he was doing was unacceptable, or he would have posted openly.

The new site is canvassing Advertisers, as this site is, I saw that on the home page that was "up" for a while.

Will it be a "Business" ? Commercially competitive to this site ?

I don,t know, but the question was, "should it have free advertising, until we find out ?".

I am not stupid enough to think, that all the Members that read the thread haven,t memorised the website address, which is what martind wanted.

The information was up there for almost a week.

I dislike censorship and restrictions on the freedom of thought for Adults.

I don,t think my actions seriously impinge on these Rights.

However , if you disagree, anyone is free to complain directly to William.

My concern was with the ID being so close to mine would be confusing and potentially bad for martind`s business. I`ve got the site as a favourite now so the minor controvery helped publicise the site anyway.

Cranfield,

Now you have explained yoursel, the muddy waters have cleared a bit. I think this matter would have been better understood if you had made it as clear as you have done in your last post.

I still don't think there is any problem with healthy competition but it looks like the issue in this case is more a matter of money, that is , advertising.

Possibly we, as users, don't understand the money that is required to run and maintain this site. Maybe a little more openness would yield some more help.

Now I understand I have to agree that this martin chap has got a bit of free advertising for his site but as ernyha says, we are all free to choose where we visit anyway, I'm sure most of us would have found it anyway.

In your last sentence in your last post you mention the word " complain". That is one thing I will not be doing. It is too strong a word. If I have a word with William it will merely be a healthy discussion.

;) B) I agree with Cranners. We`ve been here before of course. Either it`s a site where advertising pays for it (and this may well be martind`s proposition) or it`s non-commercial with restrictions, like this one. Anyway, it`s all down to William in the end.

i'd have to agree aswell but it was Cranfields last post that made me understand the situation better.William has spent alot of time and money on this site and its not really fair to go and abuse this by using it as a 'free advertising' place kind o thing.

i may be completely confused though on the way this site works an all though

That's what I like to see, another challange to the Pigeonwatch dictatorship. I seem to remember being here once before a little while ago when my jokes were censored by the leaders because they thought they did not come under the concept of general banter. Well here's my thinking that laughter was free but now even this is being governed!

On another note Cranfield I posted photographs of my babies over a week ago and they have not appeared in the Gallery. May I ask why it takes so long to put them up or am I blackballed from this site altogether now?

Firstly, welcome back PC Futrett, its nice to see you (figuratively speaking ;) ).

I know nothing about photos in the Gallery.

Thats entirely Williams province and he is away on holiday at present.

You are not "blackballed", unless you know something I don,t.

You are aware that William had a policy of no "bad language", which was adhered to by the Moderators.

Following a re-think, he varied his policy to allow "every day" language that is not judged to be "offensive".

It will be nice to read your contributions again. B)
