matt32
Now then guys. I've been looking at some mould your own custom fit ear plugs as i could do with some protection for claying. Has anyone used them and are they any good. These are the ones i've been looking at http://www.enhancedlistening.co.uk/Shooting-Earplugs/Earplugs---DIY-Custom-Fit-Earplugs/p-322-1522/ Thanks in advance, Matt
onefulham
Having just been diagnosed deaf in one ear, I having been looking up on this subject, any protection is far far better than none, BUT ear plugs do not stop the soundwaves travelling down the bones in your ear, in the end you will lose some high end sounds, to be fair you will lose that as you get older anyway, shooting will just bring it on quicker. -Mongrel-
I have just ordered something very similar to give a go, they are the Radians version of the ones you linked. If you can wait a couple of days I'll let you know what they are like.

Guest cookoff013
i am going to go against the flow on this one, first i find it uncomfortable to have something put in my ear. its just me. i prefer my optome 3 peltor earmuffs, they give super protection. these earplugs dont have the same rating. i understand that mounting a shotgun with muff isnt ideal, but i`ve learned to live with it. if i go to a range, i use plugs and muffs. skabo1
Buy the best quality you can afford, best suppression avaiable at the frequencies of shotgun blast, £60 for custom made is a ****** but if you go deaf you'd give anybody £60 to get your hearing back!! It doesn't stop there, further damage will leave you with tinitus. £500 if you want electronic, digital enhancment with protection but they won't give better protection. Spitzer
Hi, I wonder what the technical reason is that stops them selling the mould your own ones in their shop, as per the page link above? Personally, I have used Emtec noise breakers for about 12 years. They make them to fit your ear and they contain an internal valve so you can hear quite well but they cut out the bang. I use them for shotguns and full bore rifle shooting/ stalking, they are really comfortable and do a good job. £75 plus vat but they last for years and years. (they are very comfortable and you can were them all day without discomfort. I put them in when my wife is having a concerted go at me in the car sometimes (louder than a .270 win?)she hasn't noticed). I have used cans, and plugs of most types and these Emtec's are superb in my opinion. I've not tried the £600 ones though. They would have to be very special for that price. (ps. I do not work for Emtec and never have!)
