Does anyone know any decent lanes to test my Terrano out on? I do not know of many apart from violets lane and a couple around ashwell but there are meant to be some around hitchin which are good.

Or would any one like to come green laning with me one day to show me the ropes and pull me out if i get stuck :good: or if know of anything going on not a million miles away i could join.

As you can probably guess i am itching to get my new Nissan into 4WD and try it out. Thanks in advance.

There is an off road track just off the A1M at Stevenage by the Woodman pub on the left as you go north, between Junctions South and North.

Approached from the Stevenage Industrial area side, Bessemer Road I think. Give me a call and I will hope fully explain it a little clearer

  • 1 year later...

Driving through Fernaux Pelham the other night and came across the 'Ford' sign. We both looked at eachother and did a u'ey. It was about 11pm, we drove down the lane until the water started. Thank bloody god we decided to give it a miss. I just youtubed Violets Lane Ford! Nearly a mile with water lapping over the bonnet of a disco 3. It would have been a slight embarrassment having to call up and get a tow out... (if that is even possible).

 I've done it loads of times in a Defender (no electric's). Water up over the bonnet & starting to float :good:

Have a word with some one over your way, I'm sure they won't mind a slitty joining them http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f13/hertfordshire-lanes-58704-2303.html

My Godson, a farmers son from just outside Bedford uses a green lane over Shefford way. I don't know the exact location but it is on the right hand side of the A1 going north. A little google mapping should find it.

Hinxworth if memory serves me correct. I know my friend had to take a tractor down one night to tow him out.

Devils pit is the best option, not sure what shooting simon is coming up with but will fund out. Most other lanes in the area have prohibition notices on due to morons with 4x4's churning them up and being a pain in the backside. As for violets lane did that in an l200 as a shortcut many years ago and it was somewhat interesting
