Harnser
Farmers want the pests shot . Most of them dont care who doe's it . A retired gun is more able to offer a farmer some form of cover to keep the birds of the crops . I know a couple of guns who pay the farmer for the exclusive pigeon shooting rights on farms . One of them pays 500 pound per year for pigeon shooting on 600 acres and the other gun pays 1,ooo pound for about 1500 acres . neither of these farms have game shoots on them as both the farmers concerned are anti game shooting ,yes it doe's happen . will1970
after they have shot there check for any rubish, dead birds or shells laying about if so tell the faarmer (making it out worse than it is) so then the farmer will he pi**ed off with em this could actually backfire on all parties concerned and might end up with the farmer getting hacked off plus it could be a case of the older generation standing on the side of the older generation

Paddy Galore!
I can't understand how someone could enjoy their days shooting knowing how they came by it in this set of circumstances. Some seem to have no shame! i don't think i could, i have an over developed guilty conscience at the best of times.
spanj
As he has had the odd day with you and vice versa it could be a misunderstanding. Maybe he bumped into the farmer who said fenboy can't shoot it, can you...in the belief...reasonably enough, that you have that arrangement. There is often another story to that which seems obvious. I know its galling when your watching the numbers build up and someone else gets there before you can, but unfortunately thats the way it is. I wouldn't go onto a friends permission without the friend or his authority to do so. But thats me. If your close enough mates then he should have explained that he had been asked and he would like to have a go if you can't. Its etiquette and manners. However, if he isn't a friend, then I guess for some its a selfish move. In any event, if it were me I would just keep your cool, mention that you were suprised he didn't mention it, but politely quip that you really pleased as you presume its a reciprocal arrangement and it will have given you access more shooting with his land brilliant, this IS the way to deal with this ********
bigbird2
Splash a couple of rope bangers round the place . that should do the job .
leeds chimp
Get Matt to go up for you. I would if I were closer. I am retired, should I start lining up my permissions to pass on? There is a lot of life in us old un's (well I hope so)  I know where FB is coming from as its a hard one as I share a permission with someone else and was actually out with Adi on the field when he came along wanting to shoot the field we were on.... Maybe its just crossed wires, I would ask him outright if I was allowed to shoot on his land that he had shown me and could he introduce me to the farmer so I could get permission as thats really what seems to have happened....then again I would not want to cause a ripple effect with him or the farmer concerned
Bleeh
I can't see how ******* him off is going to make anything better. I'd let him know your annoyance, but tell him to only shoot early week and leave Thursday/friday so you can have the weekend. The only thing worse than having to share a permission is having to compete for one.
