Schools Challenge Leg 2

Just wanted to update those of interest and the kind souls who have supported my clay school clay shooting team.

We took a long trip over to Breedon school near Tewkesbury yesterday, supported by parents ferrying the children to the impressive public school grounds. We were joined by a number of well established and funded shooting teams from public schools. With their game faces on, their focus set and the training, my lads went out and shot their 50 individual targets. Some had good days, one a bit of a shocker. With their age, I entered all the team in to the 'prep school' category for 13years and under. They did themselves proud....and won it! The school behind us have their own shooting grounds at the school and train every week making this an especially performance by the chaps who train once a month.

I'm very proud for them as 2 of them had never picked up a gun before the started in the club, and another had shot a handful of times. They won some lovely prizes, included an auto Bowman trap! My thanks go to Terry for all his time and effort in helping to train these boys with me, you supporters who have given money or purchased items to support us, cartridge donations, gun donations and such. Also to Hull for donating cartridges and to Ben Huthswaite for helping to form their minds and keep calm and focused under pressure. Without you all, we would not have won this, so thanks. David from the Oxford Gun Company needs a mention as he has put on 2 very well organised and run shoots, something that I am sure is significantly more difficult than it looks. Oh, and the big man upstairs for sorting us out the only dry and sunny day of the month to shoot.

Thank you

Wow awesome result Neil lets hope you can continue to encourage them and many more!

They and there parents must be really proud, hope the head is also and makes a big announcement to the whole school. It would be good to see it reported in shooting press and even the normal local press!

Well done to you ane the team Neal, the ony way is up now. :good:

The Boys look really good in their new team vest :good: , if you look good, it makes you feel good, and that can only help, I cannot wait to get my vest which I will wear with pride.

The trap will prove to be a very useful piece of equipment, especially if we can find a bit of ground to use it on. Next stop a Clay Pigeon Target manufacture to support us and away we go.

I look forward to meeting up with the Boys again very soon, lets hope we can have a little celebration, I cannot remember the last time I drank Lemonade

well done.....all

was getting sponsorship for cartridges easy?

I ask as for the second time on saturday i took my sons cadet group shooting, I asked a friendly landowner to assist (he lent us a field and his time and 20g side by side-and his wife made us all flapjack and cakes) one of the cadet instructors (their range officer) borrowed a clay trap and with cartridges and clays bought at a local gun shop at a slight discount i must add, and with my 4 12g guns we had a good days shooting.

my 13 year old son dusting a few

anyway the commanding officer wants to do this more often with the kids and was contemplating approaching eley for some cartridges and asking if we could have them cheaper......the cadet unit is also a registered charity and helps keep the kids on the straight and narrow and gives them opportunities they would not otherwise have access to......

We don't have a sponsorship deal, merely a couple of kind donations rom Hull. I put their logo on the vests as a little pay back for them, it was not requested. All I did was ask though, so you never know!

Phil, yes if you could, I'll also drop him an email. Thanks.

Great job! My 14yo is an enthusiastic and competent clay shooter - I wish there were more juniors involved. Best wishes to the team and all the adults willing to give up their time to encourage and support them.
