Hi guys

I have 4000 to spend on a car and I'm looking at a peugeot 307. I have a choice between a 2.0 litre 3 door diesel and a 1.6 litre 5 door petrol.

Can someone help me choose lol

No choice - go for the diesel

the petrol has 15000 less miles and 2 more doors though lol

The amount of doors you need, depends on the amount of friends you have.

The question shouldn't be, "petrol or diesel ?", it should be "why a Peugot 307 ?".

Cos the insurance man has got me bent over his desk if I ask for a quote on a 4x4

Plus they look ace

I don't want to pee on your parade, but just some friendly advice - an ex workmate bought one brand new from the Pug dealership, and in 18 months its been back 7 times now to fix a varying array of issues that are still not 100% sorted.

Obviously these ones are second hand so I hope the more common faults are sorted

i used to work for peugoet did 3 years in the workshop became fully trained peugeot tech go for the diesel leave the petrol few things to look out for m8 ...com 2000 thats the indicator stalks to peeps who never worked for peugeot check it self cancels at the right time as its a commen fault that they cancel too early way to early ya could be still goin round the island all 307....1.6ltr petrol they leak engine oil from the front of the cylinder head nr cam belt end its the head gasket oil seal.....2.0hdi open the fuel filter houseing and check for metal particles they have a knack for wearing the brass bearing on the high pressure pump and the bits get into the injectors and it miss fires problem is its a full fuel system to stop this at a cost of around 2500 quid....dont go through any deepish water in winter the air pickup is down low it sucks water up and bends conrods ...oh and last but not least front wishbone bushes unbond very easy on the older cars....keep away from the 2.0ltr petrol other than that there not bad its the electrics that let them down hope this helps ya decide ...sparkie
