Reece Posted May 29, 2012 Report Share Posted May 29, 2012 If rats are there, there will be holes there. They are slightly smaller than a rabbit hole. If there are any muddy areas, look for rat tracks. If you're unsure what this looks like, google it. Rats tend to follow a set route. They run along anywhere that provides security. This could be a wall, a log or a hedge. These runs become worn paths when used a lot. Rabbit droppings tend to be rather rounded. Rat droppings tend to be more elongated.
