how do you mount a dead bird to a rotary flapper? I just can't seem to find any info on this anywhere and I have looked.

There are no instructions with my spinner so I watched you tube clips that solved that but no one seems to be using dead birds and I was lead to believe this to be best way of doing it.

Cental spike up the  vent through the body and into the head, but not all the way through. Push the little spikes (or clip on) through the wings by the last joint. Job done - easy with a bit of practice. Don't stab yourself by pushing to hard when locating spike into the head.

i tend to break the wings on mine as not so much wear on the motor

Do you mean you break the wings when used on a flapper, which is what is recommended by the manufacturers. If you do mean on a rotary how would breaking the wings create wear on the motor?

I managed to thread the spike up it's  and I decided that this was far too much trouble so I went out and bought a pair of flappers.

It just felt a bit too mean to do that to the poor things even tho they are dead....

but many thanks for the reply's.

To put it very bluntly, and like others have said shove the spike up it's ****, right through the body and into the head, thus suporting it, break the wings at the body, if you dont rigamortis sets in and makes the whole thing look fake and tends to make the bird slide back off and up the spike, and secondly the broken wings flap about in the wind giving it a much more convincing appearence!
