ste 2712
I was out shooting yesterday evening when this happened. The firing pin went clean through the primer covering me in **** and smoke!! I have never had this happen to me before i guess this is one of the reasons why it is recommended to wear eye protection! The round was a privvi .223 55gr sp. al4x
what happened to the bullet? I'd check the rifle carefully for any issues after that
tinytim38
looks like over pressure
ste 2712
It fired as normal but missed the target! I had a good look over it and there seemed no apparent damage so carried on shooting and it was fine all evening Guess i was just lucky not to get blinded as most of the **** hit my cheek. Beretta28g
It would seem privi are cheap for a reason.
gixer1
It would seem privi are cheap for a reason. Nah, I must of been through nearly a thousand prvi's between my last few rifles and never a problem. ste 2712
Is the the round at fault or the pin do you think? Lucky your ok! I cannot see how it could be the pin? but i could be wrong! I would say a weak spot in the primer case! again i could be wrong ! but i do know i **** my pants when it happened
al4x
yep odds are its a primer with a weak spot, worth mentioning it to where you bought them from in case there is a batch issue. Certainly not something you want happening very often

Lord Geordie
Funny you mention that. I just bought some Lyvale 12g No6 carts and this has happened with 5 out of 300 already. I worry about the **** is blows into the firing pin guides and action.
M.I.A
I've had that with shotgun carts plenty of times now, never notice until I eject but the primer is covered in ****
