halight
Hi guys, I'm not very good at taking standing shots, I just can not seem to hold the rifle stedy enough for the shot. Most of my standing shots seem to go off to the right not by a lot but enough for it to be a miss. Sometimes I can sort this by aiming a little over to the left. But this dose not always work for me. So Iv been thinking about buying a shooting stick to rest the rifle on while I take a standing shot to help support the rifle. I know some of you will say that I just need to try harder and try to learn how to take the shot. Well I have been, and I still can not seem to hold the rifle steady enough, so I'm hopping a shooting stick will help. Can any of you recommend a shooting stick for under or around the £50 Mark ? If it helps I'm shooting a webley xocet .22 springer. Many thanks
Salop Matt
Just make some like most of us have from the green garden sticks for under a tenner !
mick miller
I bought a high-end set for £120, then made some from green runner bean canes for nowt (I got given the canes, everything else was lying around). Guess which I prefer to use?
Blunderbuss
Offhand shots are hard - fact. Prone (obviously), kneeling, sitting are all steadier. So its not just you. You can improve with practice but standing unsupported is never going to produce the best accuracy. Sportsmans gun centre so some good sticks for around the 25-30 quid mark. The most important thing, especially with a Springer will be to rest the forend on your hand, not the sticks, or it will throw your shots off. FalconFN
+1 for homemade, they are very, very light and strong. I take them with me every time I shoot and they are used on 90% of my shots.

I have seen the videos on YouTube about making your own. So I very well may buy one and also make one too, Well iv order myself some some shooting sticks off the sportsman guncenter, iv only paid £12.99 iv had them out of there sale items. The full price was just over £30 I think. When they turn up I will give them a try out and let you know how I get on. I'm also going to have a go at making a set so I will update you on those at a later date
mick miller
The problem with low end shooting sticks, the telescopic variety, is generally the legs when fully extended are so wobbly that they're next to useless. That's where the home made jobs score. Fixed leg means minimal flex.
demonwolf444
i tend to just lie down or kneel, also how are you holding your springer because that makes a BIG difference, youtube the "artillery hold". its also something that comes with practice, i always have a hard time trasitioning from my co2 gun to my springer. Thanks mate, I will take a look on youtube. With support i can get good groupings with my springer. But standing and shooting it free hand then Im not so good. mick miller
I couldn't get on with the artillery hold myself, I just developed a loose hold on the fore end.
