Leev692
Hello All I have taken up shooting/hunting over the last 12 months. Intially I started with an air rifle. I then applied for and was granted my FAC and shotgun cert. I have a couple of permissions. I am yet to purchase a shotgun. Yesterday my mate took me decoying and I have to say I am hooked!!! I really enjoyed it. I had a few shots with mates semi auto. He has a midland gun company in camo. I liked the feel of the gun but i have searched the internet and cant really find any new ones. However the Hatsan Escort has caught my eye. There seems to be good reports and reviews and it fits in my budget around £400. Can anyone offer any experience/advice with either of the above mentioned or can anyone recommend any other makes and models that would fit in my £400 budget? I appreciate that £400 isnt alot but her indoors would flip if I spent much more as this would be the 3rd gun ive bought in 12 months! Thanks in anticipation Lee

HDAV
Hi and welcome the hatsan has been discussed in great detail many happy owners many unhappy for the same money you can get a beretta 301/2/3 or Winchester 1400 etc these are better built guns the midland was a Turkish gun like the revo/hatsan/webley and Scott edd Oakley on here had a couple a while back worth a PM, you might want to consider an OU lanber baikal rizzini or SxS as well, all available in your budget worth going to a local clay group and trying a few out as shogunning is different to rifle shooting
Brackenspaniel
I've been using a Wesley & Scott 812 for over 12 months for pigeon shooting. Got it new for £400 and it's not missed a beat. Not saying its the best in the price bracket but it's worth a look. In the end it's what feels good for you. Try some out and pick what your happy with. bedwards1966
Hatsan's have been discussed on here many times. Most people with one are perfectly happy with it (including me), and find them to work reliably and they're great value for money. There have been a few problems with them, mainly the chokes working loose and people not noticing, resulting is blown up barrels, but they're rare, and the newer models seem better. Most of the people who slate them have never even shot one, but they're sheep who like to join in the crowd of haters. Keep them clean and they're fine. Alternatively for the same money you can buy another make that's secondhand, but if your wanting a new gun then you can't go wrong at a gun half the price of the other makes (and don't forget they tend to come with a 3 year warranty if you want some peace of mind). The only thing is the cartridges should be 70mm or longer, semi's (not just Hatsan's) aren't very good with cartridges that are 65 or 67 mm long. Gizza22196
fantastic guns for the money, try and get a mk3 as these have a quick loading systep whereas the mk1 and mk2 have a fiddly reloading button which i think is a pain in the ***, probably because im used to mine keep it clean and it will be fine, i clean mine every time i use it, even if i only have a couple of shots rough shooting easy to strip when you learn how, i can do a complete strip of mine in well under a minute
