hillmouse
£200+ ex farm is about the area you want to pay this week. Big problems with US crop, disease and other factors will see it go silly. Very little if any wheat cut yet from UK 2012 harvest and a possibility of yet more poor weather moving in next week. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go over £250/tonne. That is going to cripple a lot of peoples budgets as futures prices in April when most people were doing costings said £175 for July and £148 for August. markm
They are amazing prices, for pre harvest. I would take the hand off the supplier. Infact I could see you saving between £70 - £100 tonne. The farmer on my shoot has already been offered £205 up front and he said no. I just bought some from a grain supplier at £230 tonne to see me through to the harvest and that was a large order price, should have been £250 Are these prices mates rates, the cost of harvest would be nearly that. I don't doubt what your saying, but I also see people who claim to pay penny's for poults on here, paying early 90's prices for birds. al4x
Wheat in the barn can be sold cheap at times if it's a cash deal and the farmer is effectively not harvesting it, we're lucky we don't pay for it but then the farmer shoots.
