sitsinhedges
Just back from a day on the pigeons where a complete lunatic stumbled upon us. We were sat in the hedge with not much happening when I heard voices coming from the right so I went out to see what it was, there are no footpaths but sometimes a couple of old dears walk there dogs around this field though I had left a sign at the entrance to warn them off today. On leaving the hide there was a pied lurcher wandering along with a couple of people about 25yards further back. The woman saw me and then all the decoys and dead pigeons laid out and went ballistic, like she was having as brain storm, running amongst the deeks but not really sure what to do about them and my turboflapper just about blew her mind. She was horrified. I told them we were carrying out pest control for the farmer and that they should just carry on and the chap in all fairness told her to just keep walking but she was transfixed. I told the chap who I was and asked their names so I could refer to them when I informed the farmer what had been happening and then the chap just started getting aggressive and noisy which was quite funny as he was about 60 but it seemed they were both middle class ***** who thought a couple of pigeon shooters were beneath them but eventually they cleared off. I rang the farmer to let him know what had occurred just in case and he just said don't worry you were in the right and he knew who they were. Didn't say if they actually had permission to be there but did say he would let me know when the wheat is combined What should have happened in my opinion is they should have apologised for interrupting our shooting and then hurried along instead of interfering but some people have unbelievable manners. Hope I don't meet them again.

kent
unfortunatly the countryside is full of uneducated townies, we must make them as unwelcome as possible in case they bring friends

sitsinhedges
It turns out they live down the lane from where we were shooting, but it's the sheer arrogance of them that gets my goat. She thought the dead pigeon on the flapper was a live one we had stuck on the end of a stick I'm not really sure what I could have done if they had started interfering with the decoys or damaging them because if you are in possession of a gun you are always going to be in the wrong along with being open to accusations of threatening them. I had passed the gun back in to the hide once I realised what was going on, by the way

Cranfield
We had a woman walk over from a footpath, that was 300 yards away, on Wednesday, waving her mobile and shouting that she was going to call the Police. I left the gun in the hide, took off my hat and mask and showed her that I had not tied two live pigeons on my rotary, they were hypaflaps made of plastic and canvas type material. She did have the good grace to apologise and go quietly on her way. When confronted by people like that its best to be polite and even if they are aggressive, don't respond. Two wrongs don't make a right and you are the one with the gun licence to lose (or the shooting permission).
