Sorry if this has been done before. I'm on my phone and the search forum facility isn't very good on my mobile.

I was wondering what is the best general purpose knife to have in the kitbag for less than thirty quid? It will be used for debreasting birds and gutting rabbits etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, have a look on stalking directory in the classifieds there's a guy called Mmbeatle selling deerhunter twin pack knives one with a gut hook both fixed blades for £16, I've bought a set excellent value.

Personally I didnt get on with the Mora and favored the Opinel which is brillient and the tool of choice for bunnys and pigeon, the only down side is the hadles are wood which isnt liked for food standards and isnt dish washer safe !

So take a look at the EKA Swede 8, dish washable, good metal, good grippy handle not to big, strong blade and should keep a good razor edge ! This is the company that makes the EKA swing blade ! and they cost under £30 (£24.95) and a 10 year garentee ! Orange or black handle or wood if you really want ! If you want bigger then theres the 10 at £35 ! :)
