sitsinhedges
Well,I am another going to make a shotmaker and have researched this over the past couple of years! I have 7 drippers for no6 that I got from the US last year. I am going to use electric and probably use a PID controller as I have the parts to make one. I will use stainless plate which I can weld together myself. The only question I have is what is a good thickness for the steel? I was thinking 3mm but I cant see weight being an issue so maybe 2mm? And does it matter what grade stainless? Cheers, Tony The only issue re stainless thickness is that if the ramp is too thin it wont hold any heat making the shot freeze and stick. I would use 3mm if you can and don't make the sides much taller than they need be or they will act as a heat sink. 40mm worked for me. crazyfrog
I have had a look at this thread and very interested in making my own shot maker, could you give me a blow by blow on this as to parts required and building, I see that the bolts are drilled, but not 100% sire if they are drilled completely through form thread to flat or if the hole is through the flat only.. I found this after a post and answer from sitsinhedges, Thanks
nabbers
One blind hole is drilled through the threaded part, can be big, the one that dictates the size of the shot is drilled through the flat of the hex head and meets the bigger hole, so you end up with a 90 degree passage for the lead,
