Yorkshire Pudding
Do any of the members on here have either a Presa Canario or a Cane Corso :yp: I am thinking about getting either a Presa Canario or a Cane Corso , and was wanting fellow pw members knowlage on either breed . all the best yis yp
Baldrick
No personal knowledge of the breed, YP, but I've just read in my dog bible that the Cane Corso is "a classic mastiff.....this breed can be aggressive with strangers, and needs experienced handling and careful socialisation. However, when fully trained, the Corso makes an amenable companion". The one in the photo here (complete with cropped ears) looks like it would eat Rottweilers for breakfast....... Yorkshire Pudding
Baldrick My main purpose for wanting either a Cane or a Presa , was for there guarding ability's . Someone i know has a Presa canario , and i have found this dog to be one of the most loyal and loving dogs i have ever met , BUT i would not like to get on the wrong side of it . As it's 27 inchs tall and weighs in at what is a rough guess at 100-120lbs . Hopefully i will be able to get some pictures of it to post up on the forum . all the best yis yp
Baldrick
My own opinion, for a pure guard dog, I would choose a Belgian Malinois any day. Check the video here: (http://www.alldumb.com/item/11539/). Although if I was trying to steal YP's telly on a dark night, it would be a proper brown trouser moment if the Corso decided he wanted to nibble me..... Bruce Fogle's book has Corso listed as weighing up to 140lb. Nice. The Presa/Canary Dog weighs up to 104lb, apparently, but it still looks like a dog that Satan would have as a guard dog. Cranfield
"a classic mastiff.....this breed can be aggressive with strangers, and needs experienced handling and careful socialisation. I've heard about dogs becoming like their owners and vice versa, but really........................... :o
