pin
Surely if we take away their priveleges like air travel it will make them keener to weedle out their own wrong doers? Bang on. On radio 4 recently of the thwarted bomb plot, young muslim male speaking to reporter said [ of the people arrested ] "oh yeah, nice lads we used to play footy with them. They withdrew though over time and wouldn't even wave to us" Until the muslim community realises it has a duty to say something about this kind of thing they will all get tarred with the same brush. Cranfield
When i was in Greece a few weeks back for my wedding, a Greek friend of my dad's, a 60 year old wealthy guy who runs a very busy tourist company just ****** himself laughing at the way we deal with these things. His trade was at the time being made impossible by all the suddden airport security measures in force, all his reps were working 24/7 to help out the customers. He just said, why dont we ban these people from flying for a month? Kinda makes sense doesent it, when they can get on planes to come vist uncle so-so and oh accidentally stay on here to reap the beifits. I really really dont want to be racist and bigotted but when we are dealing with such an obvious section in society(and I know we and the US are not blameless in this) we have to direct our efforts in their direction. Surely if we take away their priveleges like air travel it will make them keener to weedle out their own wrong doers? I have got a better idea. As there is a chance, that among the licenced gun owning community there might be another Thomas Hamilton, lets ban all gun owners from using their guns for 6 months. That will make them keener to wheedle out their own wrongdoers. I'm not having a go at you fister, but the few Moslems I know wouldn't recognise a potential terrorist if they tripped over him. A bit like nobody noticed Hamilton (until they became clever after the event).

I can see your point Cranners, but why have you decided to victimise the Shooting Community with a 6 month ban when the Moslems were only going to get banned from flying for a month? Somewhat draconian I think. On a serious note, I read a detailed report on the Hamilton fiasco. The number of opportunities the Police had to prevent the tragedy was amazing. Right up to where the new girl in the Firearms Dept. raised her concerns when she was processing his last renewal. She was told by her superior that she didn't know what she was talking about as she had only been in the dept. for five minutes.
Cranfield
It might well have been a poor example, but I was just trying to point out that all Moslems aren't terrorists, like all Americans aren't warmongers, like all gun owners aren't psychopaths, etc. etc. Also, we moan that Government/the Public/various Laws all discriminate against us, for our minority sporting interests. How many times have people posted open rebellion type statements on here, when there is any suggestions of new restrictions on our sports. You could excuse Muslims for feeling the same way and being just as defiant, for the same reasons. I agree with profiling being used at Airports for upgraded security checks/searches, but lets not forget that it has been suggested that a young couple and their baby were going to be suicide bombers. How do you allow for that kind of madness ? What about these white youths converting to Islam ? The whole thing is a mess and not half as easy to sort out as some people suggest. Hodmedod.one
Hod, is this why they have sealed the files for a 100 years? Are you in the force? LB No, I am not "in the force". Just mentioning facts that I have read in the public domain. The Cullen report was quoted at length in the media. If my memory serves me correctly, the best report I read was carried out by the Sportsman's Association. I have seen the "new girl in the firearms dept." incident quoted several times. There is also quite an interesting book entitled "Dunblane Unburied". After reading it, I would imagine the Jock Plods will pray it stays buried for ever and a day. For what he did to our sport I would have enjoyed shooting the b*stard myself. (not PC, just true).
new to the flock
You had Dunblane we had Columbine University, and today we have Duncan College where 4 gun men walked in and opened up on a school of 17 and 18 year olds. At presant 2 of the gunmen are dead...2 students dead, 4 students in cridical, 14 other students seriously injured, and 1 or 2 gunmen still at large. I dont care what your color, race, or creed is but I do believe it is time to make the punishments fit the crimes. NTTF

NTTF well said and i wish it were true NT, half the problem is no-one wants to single out the bad guys for the right punishment, some bozo still thinks they can be re-integrated back into society....or they wont do it again,,,, not happening. the initial post was sent to me in jest, it did get the grey matter working though, it was not to type cast all muslims into terrorist, though my own opinion is they dont exactly help themselves do they Martin
