post-35739-0-99669600-1349007608_thumb.jpgGot to the flash for 0530hrs, upon arriving there were several hundred canadas allready there, but they soon went once they heard us. Undecided what to do, we thought were here now, might as well give it ago.

Hide set up and decoys out for about 0600hrs. pretty much straight away we had canadas landing into our pattern, couldnt belive it. A little too far for a clean kill so left them. Wasnt long before the next lot showed them selfs.

It was a steady morning saw around 1000 geese and a possibally 100 mallard. Shot 11 in total 9 canadas and 2 greylag, aswell as a brace of mallard. called it a day after that as we had plenty, but a morning i wont forget for a long time.

Been trying to get some geese for a long time now, and all the waiting, blanking, cold wet mornings finally payed off.

Thanks to all members who have put up with me asking tons of questions and aiding me in my success. also a thanks to shawn of pw who joined me thismorning for a cracking flight.

Forgot to add the other geese which are not in the pic do exsist. they were picked up on the way back to the car.

thanks

Hi Phil

Great early start to the day - fantastic result, those decoys worked mate! Have you dried those wellies out yet - you had a good soaking.

Cleaned the geese already - tea tomorrow night!

We did the right thing by not being too greedy and staying until the bitter end - more left for another day (there were still plenty of geese on their way in when we were packing up)

I've never seen anyone smile so much in my life (considering you were soak to the bone!)

PS. nice to see you with a proper gun in your hand for a change!!!!!!!

yeah i tried that one 'breast me one of those canada's philly babe' .............. ' XXXX off and do it yourself ' was the reply

tasty tea, 2 table spoons of orange juice, 1 tea spoon of jiff lemon, 2 table spoons of maple syrup, 1 table spoon of soy sauce and a tea spoon of mustard, mix together marinade the breast, pan fry to seal (but keep hold of the marinade) then cook slow in the over for half hour or so and add the rest of the marinade juice to reduce and glaze, served with boloenger spud
