jcbbracken
pigeons tend to like beans when they soften up and just start shooting they also tend to feed late afternoon on them also was the the field wet and muddy they donot like getting muddy feet just like us

motty
I think the muddy feet thing is a myth, i've shot pigeons with their feet caked in mud. Also, pigeons will eat rock hard beans, the same as they eat rock hard peas.

They may even have a full crop of barley as 'Pigeon Pete' discovered.
kippylawkid
I think the muddy feet thing is a myth, i've shot pigeons with their feet caked in mud. Also, pigeons will eat rock hard beans, the same as they eat rock hard peas. Yes, tend to agree with that. If they have found the field and have been allowed to build up, they will be more inclined to decoy as they are used to seeing other pigeons feeding on that particular field - regardless of whether the beans are hard or soft.
