HW80 possible FAC?

I've got a HW80 .22 sub 12 ft-lb and I am considering turning it into FAC. My FEO isn't bothered and is happy for me to put it on my ticket as a variation. How much is this likely to cost and what is the likely power I would be able to achieve?

I only ask because some of my friends think it isn't worth it as I have a .22rf already and can shoot subs of about 45ft/lb, so what would the difference be?

Thanks

The thing with springers is that as the power gets higher unless they are very well tuned accuracy can become a problem , I would say range wise perhaps 50 yards if you are accomplished shot should be somewhere around maximum.

Give sandwell field sports a ring and speak to Tony he will be able to give you more information than anyone on here and also be able to tell you of costs involved etc.

HW80's were in there day one of the few springers capable of going up to around 20ft lb, most around 18ftlb and shot pretty well. To shoot one well takes practice to get any benefit from the extra power.

If i were you i would get yourself a PCP and go with that for FAC, leave the HW80 as it is,its not really worth the lay out to gain a little extra feet per second. You have a brilliant air rifle there, dont forget if you ever give up your FAC you will most probably loose the HW80 too.

In the right hands the 80 can be good out to 50yds + with practice and experience.

It won't cost much to get your hw80 up to 20ish fpe. There's a certain mod that you need to do to allow the gun to achieve this smoothly. If you don't then you will get increased recoil. As said before, the 80 was designed to run at around 18-20 fpe and is detuned for the uk limit of 12fpe. It's probably an hours job to convert to fac.
