JDog
I hope that you have a good day. In the last month I have found no flight whatsoever to bean stubbles until after midday.

kippylawkid
i have spent 2 hours watching a field of bean stubble today, it was blue with pigeon, gear in landy ready for morning. high hopes Hope they come back to your field. Does anyone else have trouble sleeping when they have found a likely field like la bala has for the next day? Even though I've shot my share of pigeons, I still get the butterflies and toss and turn all night, wondering where to put the hide, decoys etc. Or am I a big kid and should know better! JDog
If you didn't feel the excitement of a potentially good day out decoying you should give it up.
la bala
Update on bean stubble, drive on field 8.30 this morning, estimated 800 lifted off field. set up hide and deeks and waited and waited. me and dog had break at 10.30, i had shot 1. Anything coming over was heading over high, going in the direction of the main flock. At 12.30 i had to wake the dog up for her dinner, we now had 2 birds, i dont know who was the most --ss-- off, she didnt look best pleased. I had glassed the area and the birds were happily on barley stubble about a kilometre away on another farm. We gave it another hour watching pigeon coming over at about 100yds high heading in the same direction. We finished our stint with 3 birds, yes 3 birds, they were young ones without neck bands, the only ones prepared to commit to the deeks. Oh well better luck next time. pigeon pete
essixeagle said his mate scares the pigeons off the field first and this way you can see if the pigeons commit to come back to feed ,saves all the hard work and disappointment ;-)
pigeon controller
We always spook the birds off to see if they want to return this is very important if birds are not flighting to the field naturally . If they do not return we move on 90% of the time.
