Hi again

Firstly apologies for the continual stream of questions , Having said that I have another :

I'm short sighted and wore my Polaroid prescription glasses last week on my adventure into Clay shooting , which I really enjoyed having another lesson this saturday My question is I have been looking around the interweb and found all sorts of glasses the ones Mr Digweed uses (very expensive) to really cheep ones from eBay , as I have to have prescription lens what tint colour lens shape would you guys recommend ? I can then get my optician to make a pair up . and spend the last of my shooting allowance .

Top gun sell a set of glasses(premier plus) where you can have prescription lens fitted, it clips onto the nose grip.

When you get you prescription glasses made up remember you will have your head down on the stock/comb, so will not be looking through the centre of the lens. Deal with an optician that is used to making up this sort of lens. Cyclist's etc have the same need.

If possible take your stock and action with you to the optician (get their OK first) this way your sweet spot in the lens will be in the correct position.

Zeiss I believe are about £250.00 and are no doubt very good.

I have the Top Gun glasses at £30.00 the prescription inserts were £40.00, they appear to do the job, and in my twilight years  will see me through, any change required that come with age will financially much more advantageous for me :good: .

As they say you get what you pay for, and I have had really good reports on the Zeiss (JH Steward) glasses

Gigolbear,

get in touch with a company called cilliary blue. I have used them and been very impressed. Basically you find a suitable frame and they do lenses to suit. They know their stuff and gan do any shade.

I was sceptical, but went with a mates reccomendation and will use them every time now for shooting and usual glasses.

Yes,they`re pricey ! I looked at all of the cheaper options but in the end I wanted the best I could

get as I`m out on many shoot days as well as my clay shooting. They`ve really improved my shooting,

I`ve shot with prescription glasses for a few years but always felt that something wasn`t right!

I think that the larger lense area and more positive frame fit has been a great step forward.

Still not as good as having younger eyesight though!!!!!!!

+1

I use the top gun glasses with the inserts, they are £29-95, then just take to which ever opticion you are going to use to put the perscription lens in, they also come with 5 different colour lenses.

+ another 1

I even had vari-focal lenses fitted, I was told (afterwards) that it couldn't be done. Balderdash, they work perfectly, can see long range to shoot & short range to write scores, etc. Plus, when I had a problem, TopGun sent me a replacement part free of charge, nice people to do business with.

+1 to Chris's post

I was in two minds about having varifocals put in, optician said no problem and did them. The lens insert broke on my pair some how, emailed topgun asking where I can buy a replacement insert and they sent me one free by return of post, can't get better customer service than that.

That's the same part that broke on mine.

I got my prescription shooting glasses made up by these people for about £35

http://www.fastlens.co.uk/

They are brilliant for all sorts of glasses, they were recommended to me years ago and I have recommended them to everyone I know. They are wholesale opticians, they only make up glasses for loads and loads of different high street shops. Somewhere between leaving them and arriving at the high street shop an extra zero gets added to the price.
