grahamclark1983
I'm picking up my new Beretta silver pigeon 1 sporter 12 gauge 30" barrels on Saturday. Just wondered who else uses one and what do you think of them. I will be using it for clay pigeon shooting mainly but also for occasional field use. duke5339
Hi , I have has one for aprox 9 months and love it, but get some walnut oil off fleabay as the stock seems to mark in the rain.
Thunderbird
I loved mine (I have the exact model you are getting), used it on the clays to AA (club) class and also used it on a 100+ pigeon decoying day. Trouble is I do so few clays and so much rough shooting now I tend to reach for something a bit battered like my old SxS, so I'm seriously thinking of selling it. Lovely gun though. BerettaSV10
The SP1 is a lovely gun and have the same version, though as duke says get some stock oil on the stock they easily marked by water if not oiled before taking it out in the wet, selling mine as well, as switching over to s/a's. simjakcal
Had mine for just over a year now, same as yours 12g sporter with 30" barrels,, i have shot a load of clays with it,,its on its 2nd phesant seasson and i also use it for decoying pigeons and crows.. only downside i find is it does get a bit heavy carrying it about by the end of the day..i aint muscle bound !..would i change it though ? no ! i have stuck with 1/4 and 1/2 chokes in it and find it a pleasure to shoot,,..one i will be keeping for many a year.. yes it does get water marked,i sometimes use stock oil on the stock,,but its a tool to be used and will get knocked about eventually. enjoy Edited October 15, 2012 by simjakcal

Looking at getting one of the A400's probally the sporter, but must fit as well as the escort fits. One other thing to look out for on the SP1's is the joint between the cartridge block and the barrels, with some this has a tendancy to leak flux when it gets hot, this only lasts for a few outings until the flux is flushed out. BRAD1927
Had mine since January and love it only thing I have had to do is put on a comb raiser as I was missing a lot of targets both live and clay. Not sure if thats me or my way of shooting but now its on it shoots like a dream.

LiTtLe YeLlOw DaFfOdIl
Hi guys, I'm a complete newbie and this is only my first post. Would the Silver Pigeon 1 Sports 12 Gauge 30" Barrells be considered a good gun for someone very new to shooting? The few times I have been shooting I have used one and enjoyed it, but just wanted some of your guys vast experience to find out it this would be a decent buy for someone new to the sport. I have read many reviews saying it was a great gun, but no mention if it was suitable for someone leaning their way in the sport. Thanks in hopeful anticipation, Best wishes, DaFfY
BerettaSV10
Its a great gun for a starter or anybody else as long as it suits you (with some people Browning's or other make will suit better & others feel better with Beretta's), regards barrel length try 28" & 30" as some like myself prefer the longer barrel while others will prefer the shorter 28" version. Thunderbird
It is good advice, try as many as you can and then settle for the one that you shoot best and enjoy the most.

Will do! :-) Booking some trips to local Dealers tomorrow as my License is being delivered today, courtesy of the fine Constabulary of North Yorkshire. Who I would like to thank for all their help. It's like Christmas Eve for me. Is that very sad? ;-) Thanks again for the advise.... :-) Best wishes, DaFfY
retromlc
Is that the A400 extreme you have??? It's the first one they brought out,it's 3.5" carts and cycles all 24 upto 56grms,non kick off,it doesn't need it(i did have a kick off but sold it)the only difference i can tell over the Extrema is the Extrema has a wider fore end,i think a wider rib(mines 7mm) ans a pointless electronic pod P.O.S to go wrong

I thought that model was the only 3.5" chambered gun? The one with the counter is the blue actioned sported......
bruno22rf
Sent mine back after 3 weeks-safety catch needed 2 thumbs to move it and the wood/metal fit was terrible for a gun of this price (paid about £1400)-dealer exchanged it for a 525-IMHO a far better gun.Overall I liked the gun but its the first new gun I have ever bought and I expected it to be perfect. grahamclark1983
The safety on my SP1 is stiff but I haven't fired the gun yet and i'm sure it will wear in, in months to come.
