old_n07
After stumbling upon an old thread about sharpening systems on here and seeing the Lansky mentioned I had a look round and found that Bronzemoon were doing the deluxe system for £32.99 delivered, so I ordered one and it came with a free Easy Grip knife which wasn't mentioned in the description so a real bonus So tonight I'll be mostly sharpening everything in the house Edit: And no I'm not affiliated with Bronzemoon outdoors in any way, just thought it was a good deal. Brisa
I've had mine going on 5 years. Great job just take your time and be consistant edge to edge
mick miller
There may be easier systems to use, but this is my go to for every blade I own.
old_n07
Have to agree that it isn't the easiest to use especially on a knife the wife has turned into more of a wedge than a knife but once the angle has been returned it isn't too difficult, should be easier next time round just to maintain the edge - hopefully
MM
opened mine, put it together (i think) took it apart, and swapped it on here. too much arsin around for me.
Mungler
Far too much messing about and too fussy. Look up the "warthog" sharpening system on ebay - gets a cracking edge on a blade and with just a couple of swipes. So easy and quick to use. Dempy
Brilliant tool if used right, remember to strop the knife on some leather after you have sharpened it, thats when it will really cut and dont use to fine an edge Well thats what works for me, no doubt somebody will be along shortly to tell me how and why I am wrong lol
mick miller
The warthog is okay for 80% of blades, mostly the type in general use but it can't cope with a variety of serrated edges and bread knives etc. (it appears that way from what I've seen). Without question the warthog is a great, user-friendly system but the lansky can put a cracking edge on so many things, I even use it to sharpen chisels rather than using a stone. I've used it to put an edge on axes (by holding the stones in my hand - that isn't a euphamism). Yes it's a bit fussy but very versatile. gibspoon
I've found that the Lanskey works best when you tighten the screw down first, THEN tighten up the red wheel. Otherwise, I found that the blade would have a little play and not give a consistent edge. Clamp it tight!
Salop Matt
I too bought one at the MGF and I have to say its great so far, sharpened 2 knives so far and they are rezors now and that only with the 3 hones ! ATB Matt
coyotemaster
Lanskys might be a bit of trouble to assemble but they keep the angle right with every stroke and produce an excellent edge.
